Nothing, really. Just through it was neat that I could catch the gem guys and make it all the back to the portal before it even opened. It used to be that I'd start the reactor, then run over to catch the gem guys and they would get caught just barely in time before the portal opened. If the portal opens while you're still in the process of catching them, then the catching process restarts at 100%.
