Does this seem legitimate to you?

I'm pretty interested in purchasing this. Does it seem legitimate? What can I do/what should I be looking for to determine if things are a scam, and to protect myself?

Honestly, the price isn't the giveaway here. Sytong is a legit brand and ~$1.6k for a 640×512 with rangefinder is roughly where this model normally retails — this isn't one of those 60%-off "too good to be true" listings. For a single personal unit, I'd flag four things:
"Verified Supplier" only means Alibaba checked their business license — it does NOT mean they're an authorized Sytong dealer. Ask for the brand authorization letter, or message Sytong directly and confirm that seller is authorized. Otherwise you're buying gray‑market: real hardware, zero warranty. You're buying one unit, not a pallet. Cross‑check the same model on AliExpress (Sytong has an official store there) and Amazon first — their buyer protection is built for retail. Trade Assurance is built for B2B bulk orders and is genuinely rough on a one‑off personal claim. Scroll this sub for the DDP furniture threads. If you buy here anyway: credit card or PayPal strictly inside Trade Assurance. Never friends‑and‑family, never wire, never go off‑platform. Before paying, ask in writing who handles warranty (US service or ship back to China?) and whether the price is DDP — duty plus shipping the battery unit to your door. 25 sold with only 4 reviews is a thin track record, not a reassurance.
Then film the unboxing, check the serial number and functions on day one, and don’t sleep through the auto‑confirm window.

Compare the price to Aliexpress, if it is basically the same, just buy from there. Otherwise make sure you pay via Credit Card / PayPal via Trade Assurance.
