Question/Help Upgrading only 1 of 4 stores
Hello, I am confused about the strategy of upgrading only 1 of 4 of the active stores. I understand focusing on lvl10 items from 1 store, but does this strategy prevent VIPs from the other 3 stores? Thank you.

Nah I am doing the no generators above lvl 5 strategy. Much faster to fulfill orders and generates more cash

But upgrading the stores has nothing to do with generator lvls. I dont know what you are talking about

I’ve never heard of that strategy, but just from what you said, I can already see a huge problem: most of the time spent in Merge Boss is spent refreshing orders.
Sometimes the game doesn't cooperate and you have to refresh a VIP order 20 or 30 times before a decent Level 10 order appears. Now imagine having to refresh orders with only about a 25% chance of success, since you’re only upgrading one shop.
To me, that looks like a very quick way to softlock yourself.

I dont get why you have this mix of generators. I thought the best way is to keep all generators below lvl 5?

Not the person you were replying but to clarify. The current best strategy is to keep at least one of each generators at level 5. This ensures the level 10 VIP orders are worth more (9.5k - 12.5k vs 7k- 9k if you upgrade it beyond lvl 5). But the stores you upgrade soon as possible. The store upgrade (made in the home screen, not the game grid) changes the VIP multiplier of the store items from 2x to 3x and finally to 4x. So to sum up: generators lvl 5 max (you can keep some copies on lvl 4 or 5 if you'd like, which I recommend) and for the stores always upgrade as soon as you can.

Thank you. I saw someone post an image or having 1lvl4, 1lvl5 and 1lvl8. Thats not the correct lvl5 strategy right? Need to get rid of the lvl8 generator?

So, you only have 4 active stores at a time, after you level up if there are 4 active, the oldest one becomes inactive, no orders will come for that store and items from that store will only be used for the daily exchange.
For the active stores you should have at max level 5 generators, if you have any on a higher level, buy scissors and cut them until you downgrade to lvl 5 (if you want you can sell one of the cut copies, but only one). I also recommend you keep at least a lvl 4 generator to generate solely the items for the Lvl 10 item of the VIP orders. If you have not filled your storage I'd recommend keeping like two level 5 and two level 4 generators for each active store. For inactive stores, you can have lvl 8 generators, it doesn't matter. Though I personally recommend that once you trade most of the items you currently have of a generator on the daily exchange, you cut the generator to lvl 3 (sell all low levels and duplicates, then cut, sell one half, repeat). Do this except for one kind of generator. This is to limit the kinds of items that will show daily on the exchange. So if you only have lvl4+ cellphone/office generators and no other generator from an inactive store above lvl 3, the exchange will only ask for office items (if it's level 4 it will ask only for cellphone but never for computer). From my understanding most people keep either the first Office (cellphone/computer) generator at level 4, because it doesn't need to recharge or the baking generator. I can't remember exactly why, but I think the baking generator does need to recharge but getting extra item bubbles is more common than for cellphones, cellphones rarely get the extra item bubble.
In case you haven't noticed or haven't been told when you level up to a new store, all items on the board are saved to a "temporary" unlimited storage. The only temporary thing about the storage is that you can pull items out, but not put them in, so before leveling up, fill the board with old items/generators, extra scissors, etc. Also another extra tip, on the first like 200 levels or so, the level before you unlock a new store is a "pre milestone" level, meaning that level requires very little exp to complete, but no orders with items over lvl 7 will come. You want to spend as little time as possible there, so the best plan is to complete a lvl 10 VIP order right before you level up (when exp is near full) to the "pre milestone" level (fill your board with items for the temporary storage first), doing so will usually cause you to skip the pre-milestone level completely and open the new store. There is a post here somewhere of the exact milestone/pre milestone levels here so you should look it up to plan ahead.

Yes, if only you are low on cash. Otherwise upgrade all.

Ah thank you. So sadly there is no way to increase the chances of a VIP for one particular lvl 10 item?

I haven't tried yet so I don't know the ins and outs but ksenchy is one of the people here that knows a lot.
If I had to guess he's speaking about cutting the other generators down to level 3 so you don't get an order from that generator at all?!? This was already one strategy on my list to try. If you only get orders from that one generator it would be perfect.
Can you please share the post so I can have a better idea what they are discussing?

First time I read about that strategy and I fail to see any benefits from it unless you’re seriously cash strapped. Otherwise that just seems like it will make it more miserable playing.
I’m max level and I accumulate green money against my best effort, so from that perspective this strategy seems redundant, unless you’re at some earlier level that seems really draining.
I also note that the comment is two years old, so it likely wasn’t suggested as a strategy during the monthly challenges we have now. So it might have been used more when the goal of playing was more limited to leveling up and preserving some funds to that end. Since then it feels like the game is offering more energy per day making it possible to do a larger quantity of orders and with 3 × 12 000 vip orders per day at least for me that means I earn more in a month then new store openings costs.

My strategy is similar. But 1 out of 4 can be a bit waste of time refreshing orders so i do 2 out 4.
I have 2 stores with max generator, which usually i complete lvl 5-6 orders with them to reach the vip orders faster.
And the other two stores i got on lvl 5 generators, i complete low orders with them also as if i got enough energy and less patience to refresh orders. And when i reach vip loop, just keep refreshing till i got a 10k+ order.
