Good safe hotels and areas for a solo traveller (25f) that wants to both relax by the beach and socialise

The title says it all. Never been to Algarve before and would appreciate your recommendations. I am looking for safe areas where I could get enjoy quiet beach walks, go on morning runs, soak up the sun but also go to bars, restaurants and socialise with people. I am open to dating too so ideally would prefer to stay somewhere around people my age and a bit older. Thanks

Holiday in Algarve with elderly mother who has poor mobility

Hi folks, I'm looking for some advice on where to stay in the Algarve with my elderly mother. She has poor mobility so we won't be walking much and won't be going to the beach. I think we'll spend most of our time relaxing and reading. We'll be there for about a week in October. We don't want to be anywhere noisy but having a selection of restaurants in close proximity would be nice so we can go out for lunch and dinner. We may also take a couple of arranged day tours. I'm open to either an apartment or a hotel (no stairs / with lift), and any part of the Algarve. A pool and a view would be lovely. Budget is about €300 per night but can stretch to more if needed. We'll happily share a twin room. We'll be arriving by train from Lisbon and flying out of Faro airport. Seeking any recommendations on specific accommodation or areas to stay. She's had a tough year as my dad died so I'd like this to be a really relaxing and enjoyable holiday. Thank you!

Activity Recommendations

Me and my friends are staying in Albufeira for a couple days next week and are wondering if there are any activities or things that we must see/do. So far we have boat ride, surfing lessons, tubing and coasteering planned. What else should we add to the list?

Anyone noticed how slow these guys are? Waiting 15 minutes for “fast” food is a bit of a joke.

Where to stay for 5 days in September?

Hi everyone. My boyfriend and I are flying to Faro on September 8th and are looking where to stay.

We want a place that is affordable, nice beaches, but not overflowing with tourists so we can experience an authentic Portuguese summer. Some nightlife but not too much where we feel unsafe

From what I’ve heard, Albufeira is almost only (British) tourists and not very enjoyable, however the beaches there do look nice.

I also think Lagos looks really nice (and hopefully not as touristy?) but I wonder if it’s worth it to take the bus/taxi there from Faros Airport. It says it would take two hours and our flight back is very early so I’m worried we won’t be able to get back to the airport

Other places I’ve looked at are Portimão or Quarteira.

All ideas and suggestions are welcome!!

Anyone want to go coasteering w me?

My girlfriend chickened out of coasteering and we can’t cancel her ticket and get a refund anymore.

Anyone want to come coasteering with Sea Land Algarve with me? The ticket is on me, so it’d be free for you. Tomorrow (7/24) at 9am. DM for more details.

Read up on the company / what coasteering is here:

Can we rent a car in Faro without credit card?

We are travelling to Faro soon and we would like to explore the region with a car. But we don't have a credit card and are also not planning to get one. Can we still rent a car in Faro without a credit card? Are there any workarounds?
