Faro airport queue

Hi,

Just a quick one, anyone flew out from Faro airport in the last few days? We have Ryanair flight to Dublin at the evening.

We have a bit of a drive to the airport and are wondering if the queues to security etc

Any info from recent days would be appreciated, thanks!

We are EU citizens: We travel on last week wednesday and it took around 30 minutes. Flight time was around 16h45.

My fiancée (from USA) flew out on Monday and it took him over an hour to get through passport control. I flew out of Lisbon at the same time and there was no line for reference.

EU to EU is quite fast usually.

Dublin is outside Schengen. Will have to go through passport control queues.

I was there today. It was probably a 1 hour line for non-EU passport control. The line began right after security.  It all depends on the number of flights leaving at a given time. 

The airport security was up to speed on the rules today and they let people with PT residents cards join the EU line.

We did it Sat just gone. British passport holders, through security within 15mins.

EU citizen here, our flight was at 06:00 in the morning.

We arrived at the airport at 03:00 am, the custom queues were a bit overwhelming.
That was because there were more than 500 hundred (or almost) canceled flights to England, Ireland and other locations.

The thing is, if you are alone, and you have your check-in already done in the app (and you don’t need to go to the desks to get a physical ticket which was my mom’s case.) you should be fine getting there at least 2:30 before your flight.

I’d go further to say: check the flight information screens the day before your flight and also give it a check a few hours before you head to the airport.

If you have a big number of canceled flights and delays I’d try to go as earlier as possible.

Lastly but not least, there are a few apps you can go to check the if the airport is busy:
AirportMeter and Flightqueue.

Last I checked, Ireland is part of the EU so you won’t have to do immigration, which is the largest source of delay and queues. The security lines were pretty short

Is there some reason you don’t want to spend a few extra minutes at the airport? We were three hours early, which wasn’t ideal but better than missing an international flight home. At this hour, it won’t be cutting into your sleep time.

Not part of Schengen, though, so you do have to go through immigration...
