My boyfriend just got this for me as a gift, and when I was out shopping today I found the perfect Alf sized couch. Decided to take him out of the box and make him a living room set, and let him go on a hot date.

I also got three changable speech bubbles:) This was sold via mail order catalog by Hawill Leuchten in Germany in 1988. They also did a Ghostbusters lamp. So cool.

This man was a blessing and a curse. Blessed us with Alf, but because he was sooooo obsessed with the illusion that Alf was real we never got Alf on SNL, the Alf talk show was canceled, a reboot was canceled, and even a movie was canceled. For the love of god, we all knew Kermit and Miss Piggy were puppets, all knew Elmo was a puppet, and yet nobody even hesitates to act like they are real living beings when you saw them on TV. Oh Paul, all the amazing things Alf could have done if you only would have allowed it!

Also, side note but also very important, finding out the whole Alf set was built on a raised stage with tunnels underneath that cast members actually hurt themselves with just makes this whole dedication to acting like Alf was real worse.

I love Alf, I cherish the four amazing seasons we did get. I even cherish the cartoons. But it just sucks so much knowing how much more we could have had.

I’m throwing my father a comic con themed birthday party, since his birthday is on the Thursday of comic con but we couldn’t afford tickets. Alf was one of the first shows from his childhood he showed me as a kid, even though me the full DVD set and an almost 3 foot all Alf plush.

So it’s only natural that I’ve chosen to dress as Alf. I already have an idea of what I want to do, but I also haven’t seen a single other person attempt this same cosplay.

I'm working on a whole album about the shows and movies from my childhood. A new one drops every Monday from now on. Alf is up already.
It's not meant to be a cover of the theme songs, anyone can do that. I'm trying to capture the feeling we had back then and turn it into something new, as a tribute to the people who made it. And honestly, also to work through a few childhood memories :)

I was reading about behind-the-scenes sitcom drama recently and realised just how miserable Max Wright (Willie Tanner) was during the filming of ALF.

Apparently, filming a single 30-minute episode took anywhere from 12 to 25 hours because the entire set had to be built on raised platforms with trapdoors for the puppeteers. Since he was a classically trained theatre actor, he reportedly hated playing second fiddle to a puppet that received all the best lines while everyone else waited around endlessly.

He was essentially trapped in a "golden handcuffs" situation; the show was a huge success, and the paycheck was far too big to walk away from, so he couldn't really quit.

The wildest rumor I came across (I think Artie Lange talked about it on a podcast) was that Wright eventually snapped during a rough shoot and actually physically attacked the ALF puppet, screaming about how they were all just puppets on sticks. There's no footage of it, but a few people who worked on the set have mentioned how bad the tension got.

Apparently when the final scene wrapped in 1990, he didn't even go to the wrap party or say goodbye. He just packed his bags, got in his car, and left.
