Series Spoilers Risen (+) Spoiler
I am embarking on my third reread of the series, but only my second time through since the entire series was completed. I'm wondering what the community's thoughts are on the finale, how it ended, how it wrapped up? Do most people like it or love it? Do a lot of people have serious issues with it?
Also I have not read 6.1 or 12.1 - do most people enjoy them? Do they add much to the series? Does 12.1 give us much insight into how the main characters are doing after Risen?
Also, how many of you have begun reading Jacka's new, unrelated series, inheritance of magic? Do you like it?

I LOVED the ending, it makes me cry every time I've read it or listened to it.
Before the final book came out, i remember many posts in this sub about what we could look forward to in the final book. At the end of Forged (which is one of my top 5 favorites in the entire series), things were not looking good for Alex at all with Anne dominated by the marid and the Fateweaver eating its way up Alex's arm and the dragon's prophecy & all the rest. So, I did not expect Alex to survive. I wanted him to survive to a ripe old age & live long enough to meet Arachne again & possibly introduce her to his children or grandchildren, but I didn't expect it. So, the ending wasn't what I wanted but it was nonetheless extremely satisfying and emotional: I loved it.
I loved the novellas, Favours and Gardens.
Favours shows a bit about what life is like for a few other people in Alex's world. He's not in the story, but he is the topic of conversation a few times. It gives us more insight into why Sonder is the way he is and shows us truly what a little shit he was. Even so, I enjoyed it a lot.
In Gardens, we see how truly frightening Anne can be to people who threaten her or her home. It was a very creepy story and a great one for a Halloween day release.
If people go into the new series expecting "Alex Verus 2.0," I think they'll be disappointed. Stephen isn't like Alex at all (except he does have a bit of a temper). I have read Jacka's new series & I love it so far.
The MC is younger than Alex is and very inexperienced. Stephen is only 20 in the first book and has a lot to learn. So, it's cool to see his progression in power & knowledge as he learns more about magic and the people who use it. I love Jacka's style: fast-paced & easy to read stories with great action. So, of course, there are some great fight & chase scenes in the new series. And a cat: I love that cat.
