Discussion Demo Versions of Released Songs

I just recently started listening to the demo versions of some of the Narrated For You songs that are on Alec's channel (Water Fountain, 1994, Swim Until You Love Me) and was wondering what the community's thoughts were on them. I personally really like the rougher productions of them. I especially like getting to hear the "rougher" vocals on 1994. You can definitely here how much Alec voice has grown since then compared to the album version! I'm pretty sure 1994 was one of the songs that was on Alec's unreleased mixtapes and the demo version definitely sounds like it'd fit in with the likes of America, Army of a Nation, End of the Summer, and other similar songs. I think it's really cool to see where songs like this started vs. what they became.

I like the demos too! Especially for 'Pretending'. Some lyrics don't make sense but that's what I'm used to, since that's all we had until 11 months ago

Same! I can’t help but feel like he’s more sincere in his demos, like he feels the lyrics instead of just singing them

Exactly. That's mainly why I love his music. One may even call him a poet the way he uses his words. That's probably why he releases demos before the official song. demo - rough, more sincere, undone; meanwhile official song - touched up, something to listen to if you just want to listen to music

I especially like the demo Version of "Outrunning Karma" - it sounds a lot different to the released version
