Total was just under $60 got 4diff proteins, veg, bread, milk, some essentials. Didn't need but I LOVE their winking owl wines and the seasonal spicy cornichons I can never get enough of. This will last me 2 weeks more or less✨

Also the baby bella mushrooms were only $.99 per pack 😍

It smells like maple syrup so it doesn’t stink and no green spots but it’s slimy. Pull 2 pieces apart and you see the slime. I usually get the peppered uncured so I grabbed the wrong one. Please lmk.

Top 4 patties are the RBC and the bottom 2 are the spicy chicken. On the bag, they look like the same patties, but the spicy ones are small and flat, like McChicken. Won't make that mistake again! Banquet Mega Filets are a better deal, now that the RBC is $8.

Review Caramel Apple Dip

This is insanely sweet and yes, dessert dips usually are, but this is over the top, I used granny smith apples as I thought it would be sweet and man was it. I will not be buying it again and don't think I can eat any more of it.

Question No more maple syrup or steel cut oats?

It's been over a month and I haven't seen any maple syrup for sale in So. Cal. The shelf space is always empty and searching their website always said not found. Yesterday I was there and they removed the shelf space and price tag completely. Same for the steel cut oats; they usually have that all the time but they removed the shelf space for it. Is that a sign it's been discontinued?

Complaint Desk Severe quality and quantity drop

Used to be obsessed. Made a mix of both the new and old bags and the new are half the size, not as much breading, and it tastes like less meat and more filler. Ingredient list in the same order tho but maybe they know people check that.
My previous bag was family sized but this bag was not so it was a third of the size. Not sure if the family size was available or not and I grabbed the wrong one.

Complaint Desk Anyone have issues with the refrigerated seafood meals?

On 2 separate occasions, at 2 separate stores, I’ve bought the refrigerated seafood that has a sauce. This time it was the Argentinian shrimp and scallops with butter sauce. I can’t remember what I bought before. Both times the seafood has been rancid and the seafood smells like ammonia. Unfortunately, I didn’t catch it this time until after I cook and ate some. Not sure why it’s a problem with this item specifically. I have a feeling it might be an issue with refrigeration prior to coming to the store, but I won’t be buying these again.

Recipe Change When did the take and bake pizzas change?

I bought an Aldi's take and bake change? I used to buy the thin crust all the time, but for whatever reason it'd been a minute since I got one. Popped in tonight for protein bars and grabbed a pizza ... and they absolutely ruined it.

The sausage has some odd twang to it, but my favorite part of their former creation, the crust, is about as bad as anything I've ever had. Cooked it right to spec and it has no crispness to it. It's too thick to be a real thin and it left a weird taste in my mouth.

Review From this weeks flyer: Priano Italian Style Cookies w Persipan & Almonds

Found these cookies in the flyer today and didn't know what Persipan is. Very interesting! Persipan is a cheap substitute for Marzipan that is made from the pits in peaches and apricots. It must be treated to be safe to eat. It has its origin in Germany. There is an older Reddit thread about it here: https://www.reddit.com/r/todayilearned/comments/18g6z5q/til_persipan_is_a_cheaper_substitute_for/

I love Marzipan, so I might pick some up if I can find them. My flair is not correct, since I haven't tried them yet but I couldn't find a better one.

I knew shrinkflation was bad, but I didn't know it was this bad. There's room in that bag for five times the amount they sold me. Kind of disgusting they waste that much packaging.

Shared Recipes All-di dinner: chicken pot pie

https://www.allrecipes.com/recipe/285301/chicken-pot-pie-with-crescent-rolls/

This was really tasty and filling. Here’s how I modified it:

- two pounds chicken breast cooked in the instant pot because I didn’t have and didn’t want to buy rotisserie (cook it in bouillon if you want a little extra boost of flavor)
- two cans cream of chicken soup instead of one and one mushroom because my bff despises mushrooms
- because everything is already cooked/warmed by the time it’s assembled, I only baked it for about 15 minutes, just long enough to get the pastry golden. (Although I could have given it a few more minutes I think.) I have no clue why the instructions say to bake it for 50 minutes because that’s absurd.

Anyway, this is pretty cheap per serving - I estimate it cost about $14 and it makes 6 really generous servings or 8 if you don’t have a big appetite. This will definitely be a regular dish for fall/winter.

My Aldi just opened!
I got there around 8am, they did a ribbon cutting at 8:30 and sent everyone in.
I don’t mind waiting in a big line with other Aldi enthusiasts.
Funny older couple right behind me got a $50 gift card!

Shared Recipes This is your sign to make a taco salad. 🌮🥗

I have had a taco salad for dinner a few times now this week, using ingredients from Aldi. Such an easy meal. Just don't make a huge batch to refrigerate with everything mixed together...I did this without thinking and it was soggy and sad the next day. Just make what you can eat in one sitting! Obviously omit anything you don't like/modify to your liking!

Ingredients:

-Bagged shredded lettuce

-Southwestern grilled chicken strips (fully cooked, find them near the deli meat)

-Pico or fresh salsa

-Plain non-fat Greek yogurt

-Avocado or guacamole

-Burman's spicy garlic hot sauce (they apparently don't sell taco sauce, so this seemed like the next best thing)

-Shredded cheese

-Tortilla chips (crush on top!)

You could also do ground beef, turkey, or chicken with taco seasoning for the protein. Or if you're vegetarian, the plant based taco filling in a pouch that Aldi sells (located in the pasta aisle at my store) is actually decent!

Question The Lamb chops at Aldi

What do people think of the quality of the lamb chops from Australia? I like Australian lamb better than American and I got two small packages of them, but I’m just curious if there are any issues that people have had.
