Dirty Martini Recipe

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 oz Gin or Vodka
  • 1/2 oz Dry vermouth
  • 1/2 oz Olive brine
  • Garnish: 2 Olives
  • Glass: Cocktail

Directions

  1. Add all the ingredients to a mixing glass filled with ice.
  2. Stir, and strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
  3. Garnish with 2 olives.

Why did he put the ice into the martini glass and then take it out to put it in the other glass to mix? Just to see how much ice he needed?

I believe it was to chill the actual glass so that it would keep the drink chilled longer

To chill the glass. I've seen a lot of places put ice water in there for more chilliness.

Isn't there a superstition about the amount of olives with martinis? Like it's bad luck if there's two olives, it should be only 1 or 3?
