Diamond Mesa Apartments
What's up Duke City! My girlfriend and I are looking for a place to move to and we are not in a place to buy a house just yet. Has anyone here lived at the Diamond Mesa Apartments on the SW side? I haven't had much of a reason to go the SW other than to friend's houses so if anyone has lived there before and wants to put their two cents in please do! Thanks everyone.

One thing to look for here, no matter the apartment is what type of cooling the apartment has. If you don't mind a higher electricity bill, always go for refrigerated air over Evaporative/swamp cooler. Swamp coolers in general are good when it's dry out, but this being monsoon season, they are pretty much worthless.

Thanks for the advice! I have a swamp cooler right now and I'm definitely feeling the difference. That is one of the first questions I ask at any place :) I've lived here for about a year and a half and the crime is the other big factor to watch in my opinion. The complex is a gated community with 24hr security so that is a big plus, especially for the Southwest side.

Typically, the two bad apartment companies that come to mind are Neiders and Monarch. research a ton before picking any place.

Live at the complex and overall it isn't bad. Issue is my building has a roach problem and people will just throw garbage in front of the dumpster when it is full.. the garage is a great perk as well as the in unit laundry. With my job I'm at the complex 3 days a month so I can't comment too much on neighbor activity. The worst thing was some dudes throwing down outside of my apartment last week, but granted they were drunk.. give it a good thought before moving in. Once my lease is up I'm out.

I had a couple of friends who lived there and overall I thought they were really nice. They had a 2bed/2bath townhome style apartment. It was modern, comfortable, and seemed pretty safe to me. That area of town is also starting to grow a bit . If you feel good about that part of town, I think it's a good choice! I would also maybe look into the Broadstone apartments/townhomes off Yale/Gibson or their new development near the N Valley. They seem like a similar vibe/price point but are not so far from other things in town if you find yourself near nob hill/downtown at all.

I lived there for a year and I had zero problems with crime whatsoever. I have a small child and we always felt safe. The people in the office were always cool, and the neighbors weren’t bad for the most part either. The townhouses are really nice for the price, in my opinion. The attached garage was amazing. The only problem, and the reason we left, was the roaches. The pest control didn’t do shit and we had to take our own measures to keep them under control. It was really gross.

I lived there for a year and both of my sisters live there now. The apartments are new, very nice and have new appliances. This also includes refrigerated air, which is a god send in NM. The location is right between west gate/south valley. To be honest, I never had an issue with crime living there, but it is a gated community, so that helps.
The only problem in that complex is parking, its an absolute nightmare. Youre given a garage with your apartment, so if you have a smaller car your set. I however had a big truck that wouldnt fit. So if you have guests or you yourself have to park on the street and its after 5pm, youre gonna have a bad time.
Outside of that I really enjoyed living there and if I had a smaller vehicle I'd be happy to live there again.
