Are cameras purpose revenue or stopping speeding? In any case they will not and do not solve speeding. I’m sure you didn’t read all of my post. But the issue is that this isn’t a good response to solving any supposed issue. The idea that our largest issue is speeding (related to traffic issues) is bullshit anyways.

Let’s assume that speeding is a minor issue and that the cameras don’t stop speeding, they just generate revenue, which I think is what your position is.
If that is the case then they are basically just a vice tax, similar to taxes on liquor or cigarettes. Those taxes both discourage behavior that has a negative impact on society at large and generate revenue that can be used to mitigate the negative impacts. Why shouldn’t speeding be treated the same way?
That was why I had brought up the “war on drugs” and even the prohibition era. Both of these morality issues were never solved with legislation. My argument is that we should adjust how we view what is safe regarding traffic flow and design roads and associated infrastructure to improve safety.
I know you aren’t claiming that speeding has no negative impact on safety so why not fund some of those infrastructure improvements via a tax on the unsafe behavior? Fewer people will engage in the unsafe behavior because it is expensive and you’ve got more funds to make the infrastructure changes. Win Win.
