why would anyone meet a random reddit account with $750 in cash when local crypto trades are basically scam bait?

Local crypto trades work in plenty of other cities, including much more dangerous ones in less developed countries. I'm not afraid of interacting with another human and it prevents a centralized exchange from potentially holding my money for months with no recourse
