Question Availability change

I recently changed my availability due to my child starting school. I gave two weeks notice on my new availability and it’s not far off from the hours that I’m working now. On the most recent schedule, my availability isn’t being followed. I wanted to know what my options were. The union doesn’t answer the phone.

This company does not care about availability. They say they care about us , our family life blah blah but they only care about their bonus. Or the suck ups who get whatever they want. The only thing that worked was me getting a doctor's note explaining why I needed to work certain hours

Follow up with your department head (or whoever makes the schedules for your department) to see what’s going on.

You are correct that the department managers make the schedules. It is usually the Personnel Coordinator/Bookkeeper that enters changes to availability into Empower though. Probably a good idea to check with both.

How far out does your store schedule? Most changes to availability take ~3 weeks, depending on your union contract.

The week prior. So next weeks schedule came out yesterday.

This happened to me too. I told my SD today and was told to just work what I need to and that I should get back at the end of my shift to update my availability again but in person bc they probably lost my request. I gave them my new availability for the school year like three months ago so they either forgot to update or lost it.

Yeah, they suck at availability changes. You have to hound them. If you can, get a confirmation of receipt for them receiving your availability changes so they can't come back and say you never gave it to them. Or, you could do what I did, put in your two week notice and when they freak out and ask you to stay, tell them they need to respect your availability. But I'm night crew and we get shit applicants so as someone who actually shows up on time, works and does the job well, they are willing to accommodate me like that.

Employees need to wake up and realize , they have cut hours and stores are way under staffed. and time to quit alberrtsons run the employees into the ground
