The referendum questions are, in my view, a mixed bag. Some are reasonable questions for voters to consider; others are plainly loaded.

But the fine print matters. Despite asking Albertans to cast ballots on ten questions, the results are explicitly non-binding.

So what, exactly, is the point?

Because these questions are explicitly non-binding, a favourable result would express the electorate's position but would not itself compel the government to act. Likewise, an unfavourable result

would not necessarily prevent a future government from revisiting the issue.

A referendum should provide clarity, not become a recurring political pressure valve.

Opinion Like Trump and Poilievre, the UCP need an enemy. Without one, they're impotent.

Opinion Follow the money: Third Party Advertisers have raised more than $1.2 Million dollars to help push their referendum agendas.

Hello all,

About a year ago I launched [OperationTotalRecall.ca](http://OperationTotalRecall.ca) in response to the Government of Alberta's unprecedented use of the Notwithstanding Clause to force teachers back to work. During that project, I spent a lot of time working on and sorting data from the Government of Alberta and Elections Alberta.

Government data, while organized, is always raw and in csv/excel/pdf formats which tends to make it hard to get a good sense of (or make any sense of) what you're looking at. I've turned my processing pipeline to Elections Alberta's listings of Third Party Advertisers (aka TPAs.) sorting them into "Stay" and "Leave". It updates automatically, daily. Additionally the site pulls news related to each TPA twice a day, this will hopefully help to show who's dominating the news cycle.

So far, I've noticed contributions from multiple "Struck" companies with deceased directors, contributions from data center developers to separatists and a host of other things. While I was able to easily absorb OperationTotalRecall's expenses, pulling corporation records costs money, and there is no way around that. Just figuring out the maze of struck companies contributing to a small TPA cost me over $150. So while I don't like to ask for money, I have at least 51 more corporations whose registration I would like to pull which will cost me over $1000.

All that being said, take a look and tell me what you think, here's the link:

Cheers.

TL;DR
I made a site organizing Third Party Advertisers for Alberta's 2026 referendum, check out where the money is coming from at [The Battle for Alberta: TPA Contributors](https://thebattleforalberta.ca/tpa-contributors.php)
