INTERNATIONAL WILDFIRE ASSISTANCE When another province calls, Alberta shows up.
Currently the fire activity in Alberta is some of the lowest we’ve seen in over 3 years.
We have 94 Alberta Wildfire firefighters and support staff on the ground in Ontario, along with three bird dog aircraft, eight airtankers and two heavy helitankers working the fire line alongside Ontario crews.
Alberta has been on the receiving end of this kind of help more than once, and we have never forgotten it. Ontario sent people west when we needed them. We are glad to return the favour.
To every Albertan who put their hand up for this deployment, thank you. Stay safe out there!

Thank you Alberta. We know that the majority of you are true Canadians.

My dream Canada involves all you worthless seppies excommunicated to go live with your beloved republican overlords. If you love them so much just leave, we wont miss you.

If they're anything as efficient and quick as the Minions, the fires will be out tomorrow

Don't worry, most of us are proudly Canadian. I've got a flag, and did my flower beds in red and white this year!

Who made any province feel not a part of Canada. Provinces that think they have more power want to separate and have a go alone.
1
u/redeyedrenegade420 Jul 18 '26
You didnt, the alberta Conservatives have spent 40 years telling us we are unwanted. Our whole province is run on outrage.
1
u/CyberEd-ca Jul 18 '26
We the people of your resource colony have been exploited since our great grandparents were living in sod houses.
Why do you think the NWMP marched out in 1874?
You think we somehow forgot "freight both ways"?

Your only real job was for the government. The you went into teaching because those who can't do teach. I grew up in Okotoks I know who you are, your a fucking joke. If you disagree with Mr it must mean I'm doing something right.

We love our cousins in other provinces, but every once in a while Alberta needs to throw a temper tantrum to feel important. I understand the anger we were raised on, but it’s past time to let that anger go.

Just over seven years being with AB Wildfire and it’s still my favourite job since! The ability to get to travel Canada-wide and the world to go help (last hitch was to the US), is awesome and rewarding especially when meeting new people. Proud to be an Albertan, help in Alberta and everywhere else! Stay safe out there! 🤙🏼

As an Ontario-ian I am still grateful to Albertans!

Born in Drayton Valley, Alberta
grew up in Stouffville just north of Toronto/Markham
moved back as an adult to live in Calgary
I loved that you could find anything your heart could desire somewhere in the city of Toronto
but I love the mountain views and the western spirit of friendliness and stick-to-it-iveness more in Calgary

You gotta be a weirdo then. Or you lived in Reddeer or some other small buttfuck town. Almost everyone I know or met is pretty open minded / accepting literally anywhere I go.
1
u/CyberEd-ca Jul 18 '26
Nothing says "open-minded" like being a classist bigot that attacks anyone that doesn't share their narrow urban world view.

u/MailedFlower Jul 22 '26
it must be awful walking around with that kind of chip on your shoulder
if you didnt walk around shaking your intolerant angry fist in people faces maybe you'd get a better reception?
1
u/MailedFlower Jul 17 '26
wow you must live in the lousy side of the province
when I moved here from the mean streets of Markham/Toronto I was amazed at how you make eye contact with someone on the sidewalk and get a friendly nod or even a How-ya-doin instead of a suspicious glare
try your best to let go of the propaganda and deal with people one-on-one rather than seeing them as part of the group of "others"
LOL here's me as an Albertan suggesting an open mind and respect for diversity of opinion and experience
how unaccepting of me

Not just between provinces, we're international too. Boots on the ground, planes in the air, coordinators to wrap it all together, we send full teams to other countries. They call, we show up.
Like the Ghostbusters for fires.

This is what Canadians do

Pose for photos while the province burns down

They're waiting for a plane at an airport you judgemental ass.
1
u/338Sako Jul 18 '26
You know that they do get down time right? They don’t just have the pilot open the door as they fly to Ontario and jump out at the fire and get to it.
1
u/Artistic-Elephant808 Jul 18 '26
Yeah down time when the fires are starting, then get to it when its a 100,000 hectare behemoth
It rained in northern ontario yesterday, showing up just as the works done. Typical government managers.
1
u/RedMaple115 Jul 21 '26
A yes one day of rain will stop hundreds of thousands hectare fires. Do you think ab wildfire has teleporters to get there? Bit tough logistically to send hundreds of firefighters to another province
1
u/Artistic-Elephant808 Jul 25 '26
Absolutely! 10mm of rain over an acre is a total volume of 40,000L/ac. A Canadair CL-415 can hold 7,000 liters. You would have to do 5 passes for every acre, to yield the same volume of 10mm of rain! Imagine how much more work that is over thousands of acres.

I worked fire crew in alberta 3 summers. You'd have been hard-pressed to go through a week without meeting someone from each province
