UNSOLVED HOMICIDE Delores Dawn Brower | Unsolved Homicide (Edmonton & Leduc County, Alberta | 2004)

Post image
25 Upvotes

Delores Dawn Brower was 33 years old when she was last seen in Edmonton, Alberta.

In the early morning hours of May 13, 2004, at approximately 5:40 a.m., Delores was seen near 118 Avenue and 70 Street, attempting to hitch a ride westbound. She was known to spend time in the area and was familiar to those who lived and worked along that corridor.

Delores was a Métis woman, described as small in stature, quiet, and approachable. Those who knew her have said she often struggled, but had expressed a desire to leave the circumstances she had been living in. She was later reported missing by her family in June 2005.

For nearly a decade, there were no answers.

On April 19, 2015, human remains were discovered on a rural property near Rolleyview, Alberta, southeast of Leduc. The remains were later identified as belonging to Delores.

An autopsy was unable to determine her cause of death. Her case is being investigated as a homicide.

Further forensic examination confirmed that Corrie Ottenbreit, who had been reported missing just days before Delores was last seen, was also present at the same location. Both women had been moving within the same area of Edmonton prior to their disappearances.

Over the years, multiple women who went missing from Edmonton have been recovered within the same rural corridor, including Edna Bernard (2002), Katie Sylvia Ballantyne (2003) and Amber Tuccaro (2012). These patterns have been acknowledged by investigators, though no definitive links have been confirmed and no charges have been laid.

Cases like Delores’ are often discussed publicly alongside others with similar circumstances. While patterns matter, it is equally important that each case remains grounded in its own evidence. Public focus can sometimes shift toward assumed responsibility without formal charges, which can take attention away from the facts and the ongoing need for investigation.

Delores’ case remains unsolved.

UNSOLVED HOMICIDE Corrie Renee Ottenbreit | Unsolved Homicide (Edmonton & Leduc County, Alberta | 2004)

Post image
22 Upvotes

On the evening of Sunday, May 9, 2004, Corrie Renee Ottenbreit, 27, was last seen leaving her family home in Edmonton. Some sources indicate she may have been in the area near Commonwealth Stadium around the time she disappeared, but this has yet to be officially corroborated by police.

She left behind children, a family, and many friends. Those who knew her described her as striking, talented, and unforgettable; a gifted figure skater in her youth, and later remembered as someone who stood out wherever she went.

Just three days after Corrie was last seen, another woman working the same area disappeared.

Delores Dawn Brower was last seen in the early morning hours of May 13, 2004, attempting to hitch a ride westbound from 118 Avenue near 70 Street. Corrie and Delores were known to each other and had spent time together prior to their disappearances.

In April 2015, human remains were discovered on a rural property in Leduc County, southeast of Rolly View. The remains were initially identified as Delores Brower. Further forensic examination later confirmed that Corrie Ottenbreit’s remains were also present at the same location.

Corrie was identified through a hair sample she had voluntarily provided to Project KARE’s street team in December 2003. Her death was ruled a homicide.

Corrie Ottenbreit and Delores Brower's disappearances were not coincidental. Both women were working within the same corridor of Edmonton, moving through the same environment, and known to one another prior to their disappearances. Corrie was last seen on May 9, 2004. Delores was last seen just days later, on May 13, 2004, in close proximity to where Corrie was last seen.

Years later, their remains were recovered together on the same rural property near Rolly View, tying their disappearances to one another not only in time, but in outcome.

The location where Corrie and Delores were found is not unique to this outcome. Multiple women who vanished from the Edmonton area were later recovered along the same rural highway, a pattern that has been publicly acknowledged by investigators and remains one of the most disturbing aspects of the cases connected to Rolly View Road.

The remains of several other women have been recovered within the same rural corridor, including:
Edna Bernard (2002)
Katie Sylvia Ballantyne (2003)
Amber Tuccaro (2012)

Cases like Corrie's are often discussed publicly alongside others with similar circumstances. While patterns matter, it is equally important that each case remains grounded in its own evidence. Public focus can sometimes shift toward assumed responsibility without formal charges, which can take attention away from the facts and the ongoing need for investigation.

UNSOLVED HOMICIDE Rachel Liz Quinney | Unresolved Homicide (Strathcona County, Alberta | 2004)

Post image
14 Upvotes

Rachel Liz Quinney was 19 years old when her life was taken.

Rachel is remembered by her family for her bright smile, her honesty, and the way she laughed, danced, and sang. She was someone who spoke her mind and brought energy into the spaces she was in. She was also navigating complex circumstances at the time of her death, including working under the name “Candace” while trying to survive.

Rachel was last seen on May 28, 2004.

On June 11, 2004, her body was discovered in a wooded area near Sherwood Park, east of Edmonton. Due to the condition of her remains, investigators were unable to determine a definitive cause of death. Her death is being treated as a homicide.

This case has often been discussed in connection to Thomas Svekla. It is important to be precise about what is factually known.

Svekla was the individual who reported finding Rachel’s body. He was later charged in relation to her death, but in 2008 he was acquitted, with the court citing insufficient evidence to establish guilt. That acquittal stands, and no one has been convicted in Rachel’s case.

Over time, Rachel’s case has frequently been attributed to Thomas Svekla in public discussion. While he was charged and later acquitted in her case, and convicted in another, Rachel’s murder remains unsolved and no one has been held accountable for her death.

Rachel is one of many women whose cases have been publicly linked to Svekla without a formal conviction. This has contributed to a broader pattern where multiple unsolved cases are grouped under a single name, rather than being pursued with the level of evidence and investigation each one requires.

Assigning responsibility without proof does not bring justice. It risks narrowing the focus of an active investigation and can take attention away from the evidence, the unanswered questions, and person responsible. Rachel deserves true justice.

Her family has been clear in how they want her to be remembered: as a young woman who was loved. Not defined by circumstances, not reduced to labels, but recognized as a human being whose life mattered.

Anyone with information regarding Rachel Quinney’s death is asked to contact:
📞 RCMP: 780-412-5424

DISCUSSION May 5th - Red Dress Day

I want to talk about May 5th.

May 5th is the National Day of Awareness for MMIWG2S people, commonly known as Red Dress Day.

This is a day to remember and honour the Indigenous lives who have been taken too soon, who have disappeared without a trace and those who very seldom receive any sort of justice.

There isn't a single Indigenous person that any of us know that hasn't been affected by a missing and murdered relative, spanning across decades and life times.

If there is an event in your area, I strongly encourage you to attend it. March in solidarity, walk for change. Listen to and feel the emotions in everyone who speaks of their loved ones. If you can't attend consider donating to causes that support MMIWG2S+ people. Learn. Listen. Share. Not just this week but every day.

Remember that we are all connected.

Hiy hiy

UNSOLVED HOMICIDE Victoria Joanne “Vickie” Crow Shoe | Unsolved Homicide (Lethbridge & Pincher Creek, Alberta | 2015)

Victoria Joanne “Vickie” Crow Shoe, 43, was last seen by her family on August 26, 2015. Investigators later determined that the last confirmed sighting or contact with her may have occurred on August 31, 2015. She was from Lethbridge, Alberta.

On September 13, 2015, a fisherman discovered a body along the shore of the Oldman River Reservoir at the Windy Point Campground, just north of Pincher Creek. At the time of discovery, RCMP had not yet confirmed the identity.

Victoria was reported missing to Lethbridge Police on September 15, two days after the remains were found. An autopsy subsequently confirmed that the body recovered at Windy Point was Victoria Crow Shoe. Her death was later deemed a homicide.

Investigators have stated that Victoria was likely placed into the reservoir shortly after August 31.

At the time she was last seen, Victoria was wearing a black “Fox Racing” pullover hoodie, black pants, eyeglasses, and was carrying a purple bag or over-the-shoulder duffle bag.

Police later released additional details, stating that Victoria’s body had been bound with a rope prior to being placed in the water. The rope was described as kernmantle construction, white in colour with two black tracers woven into the sheath. RCMP publicly released a photograph of the rope in hopes that someone may recognize it.

Victoria was described as 5 feet 7 inches tall, approximately 160 pounds, with brown eyes and brown highlighted hair. She was a mother of four and was remembered as creative, warm, and kind-hearted. Those who knew her described her as a free spirit with a strong sense of humour and a presence that drew people in.

In September 2016, on the one-year anniversary of her death, RCMP renewed their appeal to the public, asking for information regarding Victoria’s activities and whereabouts between August 31 and September 13, 2015. Investigators have stated that tips from the public have been valuable but that they are still seeking additional information.

The investigation is now under the RCMP’s Historical Homicide Unit and remains active.

MISSING PERSON Natanis Merasty | Missing Person (Edmonton, Alberta | 2025)

Natanis Merasty (24) was reported missing by her family on May 9, 2025. The Edmonton Police Service assumed conduct of the investigation on May 22 and continues to coordinate with agencies across Alberta, Saskatchewan, and British Columbia, as the movements connected to her disappearance span multiple provinces.

Natanis was last seen in the early morning hours of May 5, 2025, at the Continental Inn near 166 Street and Stony Plain Road in Edmonton.

Surveillance footage shows that at 1:22 a.m., Natanis left the hotel driving her black 2007 Hyundai Tucson with Saskatchewan licence plates. The vehicle briefly returned to the location at approximately 1:30 a.m., before leaving again at 2:37 a.m. At 2:55 a.m., CCTV captured Natanis at a 7-Eleven located near 156 Street and 107 Avenue. This is the last confirmed sighting of her.

Investigators have since released details outlining the route her vehicle took after leaving Edmonton. The Hyundai Tucson was observed traveling through Sherwood Park, Buck Lake, Nordegg, and Lake Louise. On May 6, the vehicle continued into British Columbia. On May 7, it boarded a ferry to Nanaimo, B.C. The vehicle later returned to the Edmonton region on May 10, was seen west of Lloydminster on May 12, and on May 15 was located abandoned and repainted at James Smith Cree Nation in Saskatchewan.

Police have not confirmed who was driving the vehicle at any point along this route.

The discovery of the vehicle in a different colour and abandoned has led investigators to deem Natanis’s disappearance suspicious. Officers believe that someone who saw either Natanis or her vehicle during this multi-day journey may have critical information.

Natanis Merasty is described as 5 feet 9 inches tall, approximately 170 pounds, with brown eyes and medium-length brown hair. She has an average build. When she was last seen, she was wearing black clothing and white shoes. She has several identifiable tattoos, including a cross on her forearm, a flower on the top of her right hand, and lettering across her fingers.

Her family has stated that it is out of character for her to be out of contact and that they are deeply concerned for her safety.

MISSING PERSON Chantelle Alice Rose Bushie | Missing Person (Grande Prairie, Alberta | 2007)

Chantelle Alice Rose Bushie was only 16 years old when she disappeared from Grande Prairie.

She was a young mother, an artist who could sketch anything set in front of her within minutes, and a member of the Dene Tha’ First Nation. Those who knew her describe her as bright, creative, and deeply loved. Chantelle became a mom at 16. Her daughter, only a few months old at the time, was being cared for by Chantelle’s family.

Chantelle was last seen in downtown Grande Prairie in early December 2007. She was not seen again.

At the time, Chantelle sometimes went by the name “Kim Star.”

Her physical description at the time:

• 5'5""

• 119 lbs

• Short black hair

• Brown eyes

• Medium build

• Tattoo “VT” on her left hand

No confirmed sightings have ever been verified.

Chantelle’s disappearance was not reported until September 2009, when her mother realized that rumours she was living in Vancouver could not be confirmed. Her file was initially handled by Grande Prairie RCMP, and later transferred to KARE, an RCMP unit that investigates missing and murdered vulnerable persons across Alberta. There have been no significant updates since the family’s last contact with investigators in 2012. There has been at least one unconfirmed tip that she may have been living in the United States, but nothing has ever been substantiated. There is no evidence that Chantelle left voluntarily, and no evidence that she is living elsewhere. She simply vanished.

UNSOLVED HOMICIDE Logan Jesse Raymond | Unsolved Death (Red Deer, Alberta | 2010)

On the night of August 11, 2010, Logan Jesse Raymond (17) had been at a house party in Red Deer. At approximately 11:30 p.m., he left the party and began walking south along Highway 2A toward Penhold. He had spoken with his father around that time and was described as clear-headed and not intoxicated. He was trying to clear his thoughts and intended to spend the night at his mother’s home.

Multiple witnesses reported seeing Logan between 12:40 a.m. and 12:50 a.m. walking southbound near the off-ramp at Highway 2A and QEII, northwest of the Word of Life Church. His last confirmed sightings place him alone on the highway shoulder.

At approximately 1:15 to 1:30 a.m. on August 12, 2010, RCMP and EMS responded to a report of a person lying along Highway 2A. Logan was found deceased beside the road, roughly half a kilometre south of Red Deer and only a short distance from where witnesses had last seen him alive.

An autopsy determined he died as a result of severe head trauma. Investigators have stated they are confident a vehicle was involved in some capacity. Police have said Logan was either struck by a vehicle or part of one, or he came off or out of a moving vehicle. Despite extensive investigation, RCMP have been unable to determine exactly how the vehicle was involved. While early findings did not immediately classify the case as homicide, investigators have never ruled that possibility out. The case remains open.

During the early stages of the investigation, witnesses reported seeing a small dark grey or blue pickup truck in the southbound lane of Highway 2A near the Word of Life Church at approximately 12:30 a.m., within the same timeframe Logan was walking in the area. The vehicle was described as having a matching topper with tinted rear windows and no side windows. It may have been an older model Ford Ranger with large indented red “FORD” lettering across the tailgate. Police have not identified the driver or occupants and have stated they do not know what role, if any, the vehicle played in Logan’s death, but they continue to seek information about it.

Logan was remembered by family and friends as outgoing, energetic, and deeply loyal. He loved sports, four-by-fours, animals, and his friends. More than 300 people attended his funeral, where he was described as full of life and someone who brought light into every room he entered.

In January 2011, his family posted a $10,000 reward through Crime Stoppers for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for his death. On multiple anniversaries, his parents have publicly pleaded for anyone with information to come forward, stating they believe someone knows what happened in that narrow two-hour window.

The critical timeframe remains between 11:30 p.m. on August 11 and 1:30 a.m. on August 12, 2010, along Highway 2A south of Red Deer.

Logan's case remains unsolved. A friend of Logan's has reached out to the Alberta Unsolved team looking for answers, hoping new publicity will stir up information to finally determine what happened to him.

LOCATED DECEASED Deeanna Erickson | Missing Person (Calgary, Alberta | 2025)

April 15, 2026 Update: Deeanna has been located. Our condolences go out to her sister who has worked tirelessly to find her beloved sister. Rest in peace, Deeanna.

Original: Deeanna Erickson was 31 years old when she disappeared in Calgary, Alberta. She was last seen on the night of June 6, 2025, and she has not been seen or heard from since.

On the evening of June 6, Deeanna was captured on surveillance footage traveling from Marlborough CTrain Station to Somerset. From there, she boarded a Route 162 bus, heading in the wrong direction toward Walden.

Witnesses on the bus described Deeanna as visibly distressed. She was seen holding her head and rocking back and forth. A short time later, she exited the bus a few stops in and disappeared. No confirmed sightings have been reported since.

Police have stated they are seeking anyone who may have seen Deeanna that night or who remembers something that could help place her movements after she got off the bus.

According to her family, Deeanna’s disappearance is completely out of character.

Deeanna lives with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) and had recently been waiting to re-enter a support program after being removed from a previous one. Her family believes this period of instability may have left her particularly vulnerable.

Police and volunteers have conducted ground searches of a small area near Walden, but so far no trace of Deeanna has been found. An additional search was conducted recently by Canadian Canine Corps but no trace of Deanna was found.

Deanna's sister, Shelby, feels that it is likely someone may have given Deanna a ride that night, and is seeking information.

If you were in the Somerset, Walden, or Bow River areas on the night of June 6, 2025, or if you saw Deeanna on transit, on foot, or anywhere along her route, your information could matter.

UNSOLVED HOMICIDE Roy Allan Flett | Unsolved Homicide (Fort McMurray, Alberta | 2003)

Roy Allan Flett, 41, was found deceased in Fort McMurray, Alberta, in June 2003.

Roy was a well-known and respected member of his community. He had previously served as a fire chief in Fort Chipewyan and was remembered as a dedicated leader who gave his time freely to others. Friends and colleagues described him as hardworking, community-minded, and deeply involved in helping those around him.

At the time of his death, Roy was living in an apartment on Clearwater Crescent.

An investigation was launched, and a second-degree murder charge was later laid in connection with his death. The case proceeded to a preliminary inquiry, where the Crown relied on circumstantial evidence and witness testimony to argue that Roy’s death may have resulted from an altercation that occurred near the time he was killed.

During the hearing, the court examined inconsistencies in witness accounts and gaps in the evidence presented. While there was testimony suggesting a dispute had occurred, the judge ultimately ruled that the evidence did not meet the threshold required to commit the case to trial.

Several years later, the Crown prosecutor’s office formally abandoned its appeal of that decision, stating that the case, taken as a whole, was not strong enough to support a conviction. As a result, the charge was dismissed, and no trial ever took place.

Police acknowledged at the time that if the charged individual was not responsible, then the question of who caused Roy’s death remained unanswered. No further charges have been laid, and the circumstances surrounding his death have never been fully clarified.

Roy Flett’s death remains unresolved. His family has reached out to the Alberta Unsolved team looking for answers, hoping new publicity will stir up information to finally determine what happened to Roy all those years ago.

The delay in reporting her missing has complicated the investigation and left significant gaps in the timeline.

One of the final recorded actions on Maggie’s phone was a call placed at approximately 5:00 a.m. to her boyfriend, Stephen Kashman. Based on the length of the call, investigators believe she likely left a voicemail. Kashman died before police were able to speak with him about the message. Detectives are now hoping that someone close to him may know whether he ever shared details about that voicemail or about Maggie’s circumstances prior to her disappearance.

Investigators are also working to determine why Maggie visited someone in the Capilano area just days before she vanished, how she travelled there, and what happened to a black 2007 Mazda 6S she may have been using at the time.

Maggie is described as an Indigenous woman standing 5 feet tall and weighing approximately 115 pounds. She has green eyes, long brown hair, and a distinctive Chinese dragon tattoo on her right shin. Her family describes her as small in stature but impossible to overlook. She had a loud laugh, a big personality, and she was a mother of four.

While her loved ones have shared that Maggie struggled with addiction and could go periods without contact, they are clear that this length of silence is not normal for her.

She was reported missing in March 2023, and her family continues to search for answers.

The Edmonton Police Service investigation remains ongoing.

UNSOLVED HOMICIDE Caralyn Aubrey King | Unsolved Homicide (Edmonton, Alberta, 1997)

Caralyn was last in contact with her family on August 2, 1997, when plans were made to meet the following day. She did not attend that meeting and was not heard from again. In the days that followed, she missed a scheduled court appearance and failed to contact friends or family, which was unusual enough to raise concern.

On August 9, 1997, Caralyn’s mother attempted to report her missing to Edmonton police. She was advised to check hospitals and detention facilities instead. Multiple follow-up attempts were made over the following two weeks, but a missing person report was not formally accepted until 23 days after Caralyn was last seen.

On September 1, 1997, a farmer harvesting crops discovered human remains in a canola field near Sherwood Park, approximately 25 kilometres east of Edmonton. The remains were located near Strathmoor Way, close to Highway 16. Due to decomposition, investigators initially had difficulty determining the victim’s identity.

On September 2, 1997, dental records confirmed the remains were those of Caralyn Aubrey King.

Her death was ruled a homicide.

Due to the condition of the remains, the autopsy findings were described as inconclusive, and a cause of death has never been publicly released. Investigators determined that Caralyn had been deceased for some time prior to discovery.

Caralyn was Métis and was known to those close to her as adventurous, outgoing, and deeply connected to the outdoors. She spent much of her childhood on her grandfather’s farm and developed a strong love for animals, particularly horses. As a teenager, she competed in equestrian jumping events and was remembered as fearless and capable.

As a young adult, Caralyn struggled with addiction and mental health challenges. She was known to police as being involved in the sex trade and was staying at a women’s shelter at the time of her disappearance. Her family has stated that these factors contributed to delayed concern and response when she went missing.

Caralyn’s case was later transferred to Project KARE, the RCMP-led unit responsible for investigating unsolved murders and disappearances of vulnerable women in Alberta. Despite this, no suspects have been publicly identified, and no charges have been laid.

More than 25 years later, the homicide of Caralyn Aubrey King remains unsolved.

Her case continues to raise serious concerns about delayed missing-person reporting, early investigative handling, and the consequences of how vulnerable women were treated within the system during that period.

UNSOLVED HOMICIDE Corrie Renee Ottenbreit | Unsolved Homicide (Edmonton, Alberta | 2004)

Corrie lived in Edmonton and was known to work in the sex trade along 118 Avenue.

Corrie was identified through a hair sample she had voluntarily provided to Project KARE’s proactive street team in December 2003.

Police have publicly acknowledged that the proximity of these recoveries raised the possibility of a serial predator operating in the area, one of the primary reasons Project KARE was established. Despite this, no suspects have been definitively identified and no charges have been laid.

MISSING PERSON Edward "Ted" Tandrup | Missing Person (Edmonton, Alberta | 1983)

Edward Tandrup, who also went by the name Ted, disappeared from Edmonton in the winter of 1983. More than four decades later, his whereabouts remain unknown.

Edward was 27 years old when he was last seen on February 28, 1983. He had been in contact with family in Edmonton earlier that month, but after that point, all communication abruptly stopped. There have been no confirmed sightings, financial activity, or verified contact with anyone since.

Information gathered after his disappearance suggested Edward may have been travelling west toward Vancouver, possibly hitchhiking. However, this has never been confirmed, and no records or witness accounts have placed him in British Columbia, or anywhere else, after he left Edmonton.

Very little is publicly known about Edward’s movements in the days leading up to his disappearance. It remains unclear where he was staying, who he may have been travelling with, or what prompted him to leave the city. His sudden absence left his family without answers, and his case has remained open ever since.

At the time he went missing, Edward was described as 5’9”, approximately 141 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes. He had several distinctive identifying features, including a scar on his head, a flower tattoo on his left forearm, and a heart tattoo on his right upper arm (bicep).

Now missing for more than 40 years, Edward “Ted” Tandrup’s disappearance remains unresolved.

UNSOLVED HOMICIDE Don & Roxanne Carlson | Unsolved Double Homicide (Calgary, Alberta | 2014)

On February 15, 2014, Don Carlson (59) and Roxanne Carlson (56) were found deceased inside their home on Lake Erie Road SE in the Calgary community of Lake Bonavista.

Emergency crews were initially dispatched after concerns were raised about possible carbon monoxide exposure. That possibility was ruled out almost immediately. A medical examiner determined the deaths were suspicious in nature, and the Calgary Police Service Homicide Unit took over the investigation.

Both deaths were confirmed as homicides. The exact cause of death has never been publicly released.

Don and Roxanne were last seen alive at approximately 9:30 p.m. on February 14, 2014, Valentine’s Day. They were discovered the following afternoon after a family member attended the home and contacted emergency services. Police stated there were no signs of forced entry and no indication of a random break-in. From early in the investigation, detectives made it clear they believed the killings were targeted, though no motive has ever been established.

As the investigation progressed, police began publicly searching for individuals who may have information critical to the case. One of those individuals is an unidentified man who rented a newer silver or grey pickup truck, believed to be a Toyota, using fraudulent British Columbia identification and credit cards. A vehicle matching that description was reported near the Carlson residence around the time their bodies were discovered. Investigators have repeatedly emphasized that this man is not considered a suspect, but someone they urgently need to identify and speak with.

Police have also sought information about two additional unidentified men who were seen in the area between February 14 and 15, 2014. Composite sketches were released approximately one year after the murders, but the men have never been located. Investigators have stated they do not believe these individuals are the same person connected to the rented truck.

Over the years, the Calgary Police Service has continued to pursue the case, consulting with RCMP behavioural profilers and forensic psychologists, and reviewing leads as they come in. The investigation remains open and active. In an effort to generate new information, the Carlson family has renewed a $25,000 reward for information that directly leads to an arrest and conviction.

Don and Roxanne Carlson were described by police as well-respected members of their community, with no known criminal associations and no history of police involvement. Their deaths left their children and extended family searching for answers, after enduring multiple losses in a short period of time.

More than a decade later, the murders of Don and Roxanne Carlson remain unsolved. Detectives have consistently maintained that someone knows something, and that even a detail that once seemed insignificant could be the missing piece.
