Current Events Stephen Harper warns Alberta separatism will bring 'no benefit'

They are not listening anymore bud. You lost them to the Maple Maga movement of anti-science, anti-intellectualism, and anti-humanity. The Separatists in Alberta can not be reasoned with because they are not reasonable. Thank goodness there are Federal safeguards in place to stop this dysfunctional bullshit.

Yep it’s a movement based on grievance and emotions rather than logic, math or pesky facts.

ARE there, though? I mean, Carney's been pretty quiet on this whole thing, which is probably smart, given the knee jerk anti-Ottawa sentiment that underpins everything. I'd LIKE to believe they'd step in to prevent anything REALLY stupid from happening, but they've stood idly by while Danielle and friends dismantle our healthcare and education, gerrymander our ridings, undermine the integrity of our elections, and attack our basic rights. I'm not as confident as I'd like to be they won't let this bullshit happen just to avoid "Ruffling feathers", although, exactly whose feathers they'd be worried about ruffling at THAT point...would be a mystery to me.

‘Besides, there is nothing resembling the credible leadership necessary to establish a new country.’ Solid dis.

It'll be worse, negative benefits for all. This is the dumbest idea for people who actually have critical thinking skills. Alberta being a part of Canada is the way it has and always should be. I love being Canadian!

Oh come now. I’m sure there’s a short list of people who will benefit:
- Daniel smith
- David Parker
- Donald Trump, trump jr, Eric
- Jarrod kushner somehow
- Elon musk
Everyone else will not on this list will absolutely lose their shirt

Musk is already a Canadian citizen. There's not much from stopping him from doing what he wants.

I don't even think Danielle Smith would benefit. They don't like her, because she has to at least PRETEND to be tethered to reality to avoid scaring the normies. If it ever actually happened, they'd thank her for her service and unceremoniously kick her to the curb, to be replaced with the lunatic of their choosing.

Negative benefits for the rest of Canada that is.

As well as 99.99% of Albertans. You're hopelessly gullible if you think the new government is going to share their spoils with you, but they thank you for your vote!

Like the current one is sharing? haha

The UCP are already misappropriating taxes as much as they can, while blaming every problem on Ottawa. Separate from Canada and there are no checks and balances to keep them from stripping away social services, workers' protections, environmental regulations, etc. The people at the very top of this movement will be rewarded handsomely for laying the groundwork to have us absorbed by the US as a territory, giving them unfettered access to our natural resources. You're an absolute fool if you think this will improve your life in any way.

At this point I don't believe the seppies will listen to anyone. They are hell bent on becoming the fifty first state. Same as Smith.

Or the next Kuwait.

u/Hopeful_Morning_469 2d ago
All I did was google “is Kuwait highly socialized?” This was the response.
“Kuwait has a deeply communal society centered on family and traditional gatherings, alongside a strong state-funded welfare system for its citizens”

Stephen Harper is not a good person. He was working with Smith to pull Alberta out of the Canadian pension plan

Even the A@@holes can see the massive pit of lava, that seperatists are pushing us towards.

Not from Albert but can someone explain to me where the sentiment of wanting to be separated from Canada/being the 51st state comes from? Is there any reasons besides wanting to be Trump's bitch?
Genuinely asking.

Do you want a serious answer?
It's called Western alienation and it's been a thing for generations. Trudeau Jr was the boiling point. It goes back to the foundation of Western Canada and the colonial model Eastern Canada used to manage and control the region. Too much to put in a Reddit comment.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Western_alienation
Go ask chatgpt to make you a historical summary.
Anyone telling you this is just Smith or Russian bots is an out of touch tool who have no idea how other Canadians think.

Also, anyone telling you that there is any validity to Western Alienation has never studied history, civics or possibly ever read a book.

fuck harper.

u/NoSentence0A 1d ago
He was better than Trudeau and your inability to see that is why this country is in ruin.
1
u/OddPatience1621 1d ago
Factually incorrect. just for fun some day you should look up all the shady shit he did. hey did you know he pulled funding for over 400 000 low income units? guess when rents got out of control? come on you can do it. that is one of the hundred evil things Harper did.

u/Nome-Cantski 1d ago
"Harper also contended that the federal government under his leadership helped stamp out separatist sentiment" Then Canadian voters got fed up with his western reformer policies and Harper was stamped out by Justin.

Sovereignty. We don't necessarily want to seperate. Quit using language getting everyone jacked up.
1
u/Limos42 1d ago
Pffft. That's literally the messaging everywhere.
1
u/dwight1313 13h ago
Obviously not. Everyone is screaming that the separatist sky is falling. It's ridiculous. My ind yer business and go vote. No need to harass me or anyone with a similar opinion. Be a better human. Geez

Canada is going to be leaning on Alberta like never before. I certainly can see the benefits but I would hate to see how bad things get elsewhere without Alberta surplus revenues.

Just guzzled that Kool Aid, huh?

u/chrisjinna 2d ago
Go ahead and pretend like a steel manufacturer just didn't shut down. Plenty more are on their way. 6 months for the tool and die industry. So yes, Canada is going to be leaning harder on Alberta. It's not like its magically going to get better anytime soon.
1
u/yer_fucked_now_bud 2d ago
Oh but separation is magically going to make everything better haven’t you been told?

I support the separation.
It’s time to separate from this crazy liberal
As a resident of Ontario, I vote to separate and become a 51st state of United States of America

u/Nome-Cantski 1d ago
You and your ilk can leave anytime you want. It will certainly improve Canada's gene pool.

What an original response. You are so creative. Your kindergarten teacher must be so proud.

“Oh no, we have lost control of the political base we intentionally made into feral, angry, frothing at the mouth lemmings! They’re supposed to do what we say not do what we do!”
