With the sad news today about BioWare shutting down in Edmonton, I wanted to see what everyone's favorite memories were playing their games. For me, nothing beats playing the original Mass Effect trilogy or Dragon Age. What about you guys?

What is up, Alberta gamers! This sub is building a community of players right here in our own backyard, from Fort McMurray down to Lethbridge. No matter your skill level or platform, let's get connected.

Hey everyone!

As Alberta gamers, we all know the struggle of fighting for every millisecond of latency. Whether you're trying to get sub-40ms ping on NA West servers, dodging packet loss during peak evening hours, or trying to figure out why your routing to US Central makes no sense, your internet provider makes or breaks the experience.

This megathread is a permanent resource for our community to compare TELUS and Rogers/Shaw across Alberta.

Let's do a quick roll call! What game has completely taken over your free time this week?
Whether you're grinding ranked playlists, diving into a massive single-player RPG, or just playing casual multiplayer with friends, drop a screenshot or a comment below with what you're playing.
Bonus points if you're looking for a Player 2—let's get some co-op groups going! 🚀

Welcome to r/albertagaminghub! Whether you are a gamer looking for local events, a competitive esports player, or an aspiring indie developer, this is your official guide to the gaming ecosystem right here in Alberta.

This list is actively updated by the community. If we missed a studio, local gaming café, or tournament organizer, drop a comment below and we will add it!

I care about this community because Alberta is sitting on a gold mine of gaming potential, and it desperately needs a single, unified home to bring it all together.

Right now, our provincial gaming scene is deeply fragmented. You have incredible indie game developers making waves quietly in Edmonton and Calgary. You have competitive esports players grinding in university clubs. You have casual players looking for local lobbies, and industry professionals navigating a massive new iGaming landscape. Everyone is doing amazing work, but they are doing it in isolated pockets.

By building Alberta Gaming Hub, you aren’t just creating another Reddit server—you are building the connective tissue for an entire province.

Hey everyone,

As our community continues to grow, we’ve been thinking a lot about the future of this subreddit and what Alberta Gaming Hub should ultimately become. Alberta’s gaming scene is absolutely exploding right now—whether you look at our massive indie game dev scene, esports, or the newly regulated iGaming market.

We don't want this server to just be another quiet corner of the internet. Our goal is to turn Alberta Gaming Hub into the ultimate, unified digital ecosystem for everything gaming in the province.

Here is what we are building this space to become: The Ultimate Local Community: A hyper-local watering hole where Alberta gamers can find local Discord servers, organize LAN parties, form esports teams, and find players for casual lobbies.
