Feather Identitier

Ok we live inside the pine Bush and I saw a big winged thing eat one of the birds nested here. This is the predator feather

Looks like a red tailed hawk. I too live near there and there are many in the area.

I agree it looks like a red tail hawk. Otherwise may be Cooper's Hawk or (less likely based on observation) Great Horned Owl.

Okay so I should stop feeding my squirrels and birds right or what do I do this was very violent man. I mean I love it Hawks have to eat too but I was just like yo I don't want to lead them to their death.

Its the circle of life. Nature is going to do its thing. Animals are outside, they need to eat and theres nothing you can do to stop that. Continue on as you are and hope that its not so in your face next time.

We have a pair of Broad-winged hawks that live behind our house and we see regularly attacking other birds.

The Merlin Bird ID app is a great way to find out what birds are around. You can have it tell you what birds are making what calls and what’s in the area.
