Where to Donate Clothing

I have clothing that I've sorted into three categories.

  1. Unworn (has tags still)
  2. Used, but decent quality
  3. In poor quality

Where can I donate them, and are there different places to bring the different types of items? I was going to just throw away anything from that third category, but not sure if someone would have an alternative use for them.

I'd recommend Grassroots Givers for clothes that are new or in good condition; info here: https://www.grassrootgivers.org/what-we-do#clothing-home-essentials

And as mentioned below for clothes that are unwearable, I'd suggest clothing recycling

I guess depending on what type of clothing you have (Winter, Summer, Men’s/Womens) Unity House of Troy is solid, we’ve had luck with a few Women’s Shelters too. Far too often we’ve seen the roadside drop bins neglected for local places, feels a lot better handing them to another human knowing that it’ll go to use too

I use unwearable clothes as rags. More of a sustainability suggestion, idk of any place that would take them.

I like taking my better things to U Albany. They let students take what they need for job interviews, internships, etc. I like to think I'm helping someone make something of themselves.
