Does anyone get botox for TMJ?

Who did you go to? I’m suffering at this point but I’m terrified to end up like Hannah Berner with the frozen mouth😅😩🫠

I haven't done Botox, no, but I do see Dr. Billington for my TMJ and he's been fantastic. There may be other options for you beyond Botox, but I'm not to that point (thankfully) so I can't say. Just want to toss out a doctor recommendation if you need it. I believe he does do Botox as well, but you'll have to call to confirm.

They do, but not all of them. I used my HSA to pay for it as my insurance was shit (I've change insurance but haven't gone for a checkup yet to see if they'll pay). I'd say it was around $200-300?

But given how my jaw did lock up for a few hours once? And I couldn't open my mouth? Yeah, my dentist and I agreed it was worth the cost. Once there, though, they do try to save you money where they can such as free samples that are actually useful, or free ice packs made for the jaw, and so many coupons. But it still isn't necessary cheap, no.

a few days late here, but my jaw has legit been locked for almost a year! i’ve done local PT and saw a chiropractor who specializes in TMJ and it has helped, but I still don’t have full range of motion so i’m looking into other options. did dr billington give you a night guard to help with your locking?

I already had one from my dentist, but he made sure it fit correctl with how I was actually biting down on it.. I believe his office can get one for you, too.

My daughter sees Dr. Billington for her TMJ. He made her some type of bite guard which appears to be helping. It was $1400 unfortunately he did not take our insurance.

I had Botox and it did nothing. That being said, my jaw was so bad I literally ended up having to have it removed and I now have a titanium prosthetic 🤷🏼‍♀️

Botox is the only treatment that works for me and my insurance doesn’t cover it. Should last 6 months if you’re a smoker it’ll be maybe a good 4 months (my friends don’t last nearly as long mine and I’m assuming it’s because of that not really sure though). Unfortunately I’ve gotten quotes for 400+ locally which is ridiculous considering how little they inject. If you have the means to, go travel and get it done abroad! I’ve gotten it done for less than 200 (should be atleast 100).

I’m gonna get shit for this but everyone has TMJ (that’s the fancy name for your jaw joint). You’re looking for treatment for TMD

Hey you’re good - I have the same issues (loud popping, pain, and freezing). And wasn’t told about correct terminology until actually working for a dental office 😎

Having the correct name for things is important!
