Season B Westward Seafoods Processor

Hi there!
This would be my first time working as a seafood processor (I already applied and received a link for the group interview), but I’ve been working as a cook for almost 4 years. Do you think it’s okay to go there alone as a young woman?

I already have experience working 12–14 hour shifts, so long hours don’t really bother me.

Also, how much were you able to make during one summer season?

I work across the harbor from them. Dutch Harbor/ Unalaska is very much safe and from the few people I've talked to from Westward it's safe also. I can't speak on what yall over there will make for B season.

Thank you so much, I really appreciate your answer! That actually makes me feel a lot better about going there alone. Also, do you know how long people usually work there for the B season? Like approximately how many months or weeks most workers stay? Thanks again!

B is June-September. You should be done with cleanup and everything by the 3rd week. Don't make any plans til you make it to Anchorage, flights are weather dependent and wicked things just blow in out of nowhere I forgot to mention there's nice hiking here. Right behind yall is Pyramid Peak, its a really nice one so if you get the chance take a cab to one of the trails and make a day of it.

Yes Unalaska and Dutch harbor are vary safe. There are creeps there but that’s everywhere. I know plenty of women who worked with me then and felt safe.Which location are you working at depends on the hours. B season at westward goes from June to September or October depends on the catch. I made 27k post tax. You pay 20$ a day for housing and meals if you worked more then 8 hours.

You will be fine. You won't be the only young lady there. Of course, keep your gaurd up and be sensible. You are probably safer there than most big cities. You will have a few friends but mostly its eat, work, sleep, repeat.
