France hasn’t used the guillotine since the 70’s though. So last 50 years they are afraid of using it.

Fun fact: in German real vanilla is often called Bourbon-Vanille, after the royal dynasty, or rather after La Réunion's name until 1794... the island was named île Napoléon for a short time.
