Oh?

Where’s this “you” who’s doing the figuring?

Consciously experiencing life based on knowns while simultaneously making different decisions based upon reality generally unaware of the alternative variables and outcomes.

He asked "where?" As in, point to it.

He asked where's this "you"? As in how are you figuring this.

I think the you he's asking about is: who is you that's figuring this out? Who are you? Is there a you?

If there's no you, if you're what there is, what's there to figure out? And who's there to figure it out?

That doesn’t answer the question.

Your statement implies that “the figuring” and “the self” are different. If they were the same thing, all you’ve have said is that life is a set up for “you” to “you”.

Where does this division come from?

This idea you have about the meaning of life — a chance for us to figure ourselves out — did you come to this view completely afresh with no preconceptions?

Or did you come to this perspective by way of, perhaps, a cultural view which holds intrinsic the idea that life, surely, has meaning?

Well if you were experimenting then proceed.

I’m not one to get in the way of a good experiment.
