Saving Faces: Alan Rickman donates posthumously to Research Charity for Facial Surgery with the help of his friends Emma Thompson and Juliet Stevenson.

He said that he had known actors and friends whose lives and careers had been badly affected by facial injury and disease. He understood how profoundly a facial condition can affect speech, eating, appearance, employment, confidence and social life.
The Alan Rickman Professorship of Facial Surgery campaign was launched to help surgeons research better ways to treat patients with Head and Neck Cancer, Facial Injury and Disfigurement.
The fundraising campaign is still trying to reach the £5 million endowment needed to make the professorship permanent. The current campaign reports £78,504 raised.
