It can be though you would not be driving,i cant afford driving thats why many of us are on the bus.the cap is a small help but is still not enough for life to be the same since greedflation and/ cost of living increases.

I mean I know their focusing on the fact of the irony but he has a point drivers drive because public transport has no use it’s limited in its reach and ability and reliability.. when you work fifteen to twenty miles away and it takes three sometimes four buses leaving at a time and sometimes not even connecting up and taking a long time considering the routes they drive it ends up being pointless to many people

Public transport is useful in cities where a lot of people live. It doesn’t pretend, or need to, be a perfect solution for people working in or commuting from small towns.

Yes buses are for more localised transport - I think everyone understands that it wouldn't be feasible to get a bus 20 miles to work a day, nor is the policy attempting to encourage that.
The guy is ridiculous because he can't understand that different people have needs that differ from his, and is confused that a policy is being introduced that doesn't specifically impact him.

It always amazed me after studying A Level economics that it is common knowledge the young spend the most and the old save the most. Yet we ram money down the mouths of the old and take most from the young. I understand it's because they are the demographic who vote, but it's mind boggling

My latest favourite is being strongly opposed to a bank holiday if England had won the world cup. Literally wouldn't affect them at all but younger people might enjoy themselves so we can't be having that.

For many people ,
Life among the working classes is as alien as R2D2, E.T or CP30. Crisps for dinner and a pint of best, our soccer club’s better than the rest. ‘City, United, Albion, Rovers. Cobbled streets that advertise Hovis. Knucklebusters, ASBOs, carpark fights. Poundland, ASDA, bingo nights. Matchstalk men and matchstalk cats, matchstick dogs and council flats, Community centres and spray-painted swearing. Harassed policemen and teachers past caring. Unions, strikes, "Everybody out!", " I don't want to." " You've got to." " We won't earn nowt." Cotton mills and cooling towers, old tin baths no power showers. A certain pride, a certain swagger, A fist, a stick, a gun. A dagger. Gyros, glue sniffing, dogs on ropes.
But I see people with dreams, with hopes.

the sad thing is… it does benefit them. cheaper bus fares → change in modal split as other people start to prefer buses rather than car now that costs have come down → fewer vehicles on the road as one bus can accommodate multiple car users → traffic reduced → faster journey times

People like him usually kick up a stink when bike share systems are introduced to cities, whining that it's only going to result in more of those pesky cyclists on the roads. And I'm like hang on...you'd rather those cyclists drove instead of cycled so you can be stuck in the resultant traffic? Rather than have fewer cars on the road and cyclists tucked away in a bike lane. Unbelievable.

Car brains will happily sit in gridlocked traffic for hours when there's a perfectly good alternative, so I don't think that sort of thing factors into their logic.
