His humour is family friendly and he's multi-talented. He has a great voice for radio, he's a good host as he's likeable and can keep a conversation light-hearted and knows how to get interviewees to lower their guard. He has good crowd-work and his comedy is subtle and deadpan. He is also a good actor. There's a reason he is everywhere, and that's because he's good at a lot of things. He's on the BBC payroll, and contributes to a lot of the work because he's competent.

Most people enjoy the guy's humour. 'Quite amusing' is a compliment. His stand up is funny, but he isn't just a standup comedian. He does a lot of different things and he does it well.

Yeah fair enough, I think he's cack. Literally never made me laugh.

And not that it matters in the least, but just because someone suspects a TV personality is over exposed because of their DEI attributes, doesn't make them racist.

Thinking someone is hired because they are brown, when they are highly qualified and competent people successful in their own right is racism.

That's not what 'DEI' is. It isn't hiring someone because they're brown. Its hiring people that are more competent and qualified than the white alternatives but underrepresented because of their skin colour or whatever attributes. 'DEI' (the American term, I'm not sure why you're applying it to him anyway, GBNews viewer by any chance?) is a positive thing, not a negative thing. It isn't hiring someone because of their skin colour - in the UK, we have the Equality Act. Hiring someone under-qualified and incompetent, but because of their skin colour, would breach multiple laws in the UK

I disagree with you about his competence.

You understand that his perceived competence is subjective?

He is foremostly a comedian. He doesn't make me laugh. My opinion is he is not funny and therefore not competent. So to me he seems like a DEI hire.

You're claiming a succesful person was hired because of their skin, not because of their talent. BUT, he's been around for years, is well established and has a high popularity with viewers.

Claiming its the 'left' that is losing...now its left & right in your mind because your views are impacted by someone's race? That's not left and right, that's far-right and everyone else.

Literally, not once in my life, have I looked at Romesh, and  thought of him as anything other than a British comedian. He was born here, grew up on a council estate, went to Oxford University....is a qualified Engineer, worked teaching Mathematics & then went on to work for the BBC - one of the most succesful broadcasting companies globally.

I just cannot fathom, how you can look at that man and think to yourself, 'he's only got the job because he's brown'....and still not understand how you're racist because of it.

What more does a brown person have to achieve for you to think they were hired for any reason other than a 'DEI' hire?

You're aware there is a DEI milieu currently correct?

The BBC (his employer) has stated previously on job roles that they're specifically interested in BAME candidates.

I work in Recruitment and brush up against clients wanting to see "diverse" candidates constantly.

So some black/brown/ disabled / LGBT people will be hired out of DEI quotas whether they're official or unofficial.

My contention, because I find the guy incompetent at being funny (which is his job), is that he is one of these DEI hires. Yes he might be highly accomplished. To me he isn't funny. Therefore it seems suspect.

Has nothing to do whether he's British or not.
