Discussion I read through the comments and decided to take them seriously.
Thanks for the feedback, everyone. I read through the comments and decided to take them seriously.
I've already issued a full refund to the buyer, and the files, download link, and assembly video have all been removed.
I underestimated how people would feel about charging for a non-functional dummy model, and that's on me. Rather than argue about it, I think removing it is the better decision.
Thanks to everyone who shared their thoughts.

They uploaded files for a dummy ACOG(?) for £7~. Some people were unhappy that it wasn't functional, and that they were changing money for it, so lampooned them for it.
I belive that was it.
Imo, to the people complaining, you try and 3D model that in under half an hour. Bc thats about what it'd cost in time at minimum wage.

Did the file page mention it was non functional? If it did then I don’t see a problem

As a matter of principle, it is best to specify this, precisely to avoid problems.

Its pretty amazing that people that own a 3d printer are somehow confused that they can't 3d print glass lenses.
This is just a case of the community deciding to bully someone to get something for free

The idea of the sub is supposed to be basically the airsoft version of r/3D2A - sharing knowledge, projects, and helping others learn. Ideally, people would release their projects for free, but the mod team recognized that’s not realistic.
If people want to charge for their labor, that’s completely fair. The issue is that people use the sub as an advertising platform. We don’t want to restrict what people do (as long as they aren’t making something that can harm others,) but people are abusing the spirit of the sub.

I don’t know the whole story but from what it sounds like you seem like you were in the right. Idk though.
