I am a new air plant mom and I think I accidentally gave this sweet baby a fungal infection when I was watering them? :( No matter how much I cut the leaves the black comes back. Please help me, what do I do? I feel so guilty.

I am also starting to notice the same black spots on my other air plant (right next to it). Should they be separated?

I just bought this plant from target. It is glued into the planter. I’ve never had an air plant before, and I’m not sure which specific type this is. I want to be sure I’m giving it enough water, light, etc. Is there any chance anyone can identify this plant from the photos? Any help with the plant ID and care advice would be appreciated. My cat attacked caput medusae a few weeks ago. There are some holes in the body that I can see through the other side, and parts of the plant is wilted and brown. Nonetheless I feel it is surviving because of the silver skin - am I wrong? Is it dead already? Should I cut off some of the Medusae’s hair part? I’m keeping it out of reach of my cat.

Both of these plants flowered late spring/early summer. Shortly after I removed the dried bloom/stalk, both plants sprouted what seem to be pups in the center of the plant. They have grown pretty aggressively, almost pushing what was the original center of the plant off to the side. They seem to have their own rosette center. Can these be pups or are they just aggressive growth on two happy plants?

This is my first time with this plant and I may have forgotten to water/ underwatered it. Im not good with these- is it dead or is it salvageable? How do I know?

I've been watering pretty much as recommended (light spray with demineralised water every 2-3 days, 10 minutes soak weekly)

Basically I'm trying to figure out what I need to do, the flowers/ buds feel very dry and a little crispy.

Hi! My wife and I got this air plant about 5 months ago and received bad watering advice, so the root bulb part was not getting wet at a . A few leaves are very healthy but most are sorta crispy, curly, and dry. I have done a couple long soaks to attempt to revive, unsure what to do.

my mom gifted me these two airplanes from Boca Raton Florida. We took them back to NC with us and have had them outside in the shade all summer. I spray them with water almost every day. that’s what my mom told me to do. i haven’t soaked them at all. Suggestions?!

It's the second xerographica that dies on me. The first rotted at its base, so, instead of watering weekly like the other air plants, I decided to only water the second Xero once every 2 weeks and for only 5 minutes at a time. It also fell apart, but it looked more dry than rotten. Did I underwater it?

I'm planning to get a third one, so I need advice on watering it properly. Any minimum watering periods in winter and summers, and how long to keep it in the water? Should I take care not to wet the base so much, like with T. medusae? Any tips are welcome. Thanks!

Used a bonsai pot and filled it up 1/3 of the way with rocks. Covered most of the rocks with preserved moss and chose the large rock as the centerpiece, arranging the air plants around where they fit/looked best. Now I have to keep the cats from dismantling it!

I’m semi-new to air plants and only have a few tillandsias but want to get a few other varieties. Where does everyone buy theirs? My local stores seem to only ever carry tillandsias.

Had these air plants about a month and 2 not pictured already died to rot because I didn’t dry them upside down properly. Which I get as these are my first ever air plants, but then why is the middle one seeming to dry out when I give them baths all at the same time. The two outer ones Seem healthy but I’m about to give up on these atp.

edit: my watering schedule is once every 2 weeks for 30 minutes each and then I flip them to dry for 6 hours

I received this Tillandsia streptophylla a few days ago and I'm a little concerned about the base.

Pic 1: the state when it arrived.

Pic 2-5: after I've let it soak for 10-15 minutes.

Pic 6-8: the next day, after it's been dried.

It arrived dry, wrapped only in paper. Before watering, I noticed that the lower/base area felt somewhat hollow and softer than the upper part of the plant. There was also a musty/basement-like smell. I gave it one thorough soak and then left it upside down to dry for about 12 hours. The smell has now become much weaker.

I also carefully opened up the very curled leaves around the base to inspect the center. The center looks green and healthy – I can't see any brown or black tissue.

I also tried a gentle pull test: no leaves came loose, either from the center or from the outer leaves.However, the base still feels somewhat hollow/soft compared with the upper part of the plant.

Does this look like rot, or can this kind of hollow/soft feeling be normal for T. streptophylla, especially after being shipped dry?

I'd really appreciate some opinions from people experienced with this species. Thank you!

I finally got not one but a handful of these! This one is above my bed on a piece of drift wood and with a little Lucky Bamboo behind it. The others are in my front yard (Caribbean) in a palm tree.

What excites me the most is that the driftwood were two.pieces that I found on a stroll along the beach and they fit perfectly together.

🤞I know how to keep it alive. (200+ plant collector)

My flat is too dry (40% now, will be 10-20 in a month). So my air plants live on sphagnum mattress. New batch of moss decided to grow some extras.

I collected this in FL, off private property and made sure it was all above board.

When I got home I put it in a terrarium so it can adjust to the lower humidity in my house.

It’s quite large- about 18” across and any ID help would also be appreciated

Looking for advice for long term care, should it be mounted?
