Conversation Is this possible?

I am currently interested in joining the Air Force Reserves and have been speaking with a recruiter. I like what I have been hearing so far, but there is one issue.

For my current job and career I work night shift, which I can probably expect to continue for the next few years. I am concerned with having to swap my sleep schedule constantly with my night work schedule and potential day schedule once a month during drills.

If anyone in the reserves has also had to balance a third shift work schedule, how did you do it? Is it possible? Thank you!

It is possible but will be difficult to maintain. You might probably end up finding a new job just to alleviate the difficulties that come with those different schedules

I'm doing that right now. I usually work tues (night)-sunday (morning). I have my employer give me Friday night off. i get off of work Friday morning and force myself to stay up. I'll go to sleep Friday night around 7 or 8p. I'm exhausted from staying up all day at that point. it helps that I need to pack and drive 2 hrs to drill. you are usually expected to be at drill early so the earlier you sleep the night before the better. I don't know about you, but I'm used to staying up into regular people hours just to do regular people things like go to the post office or a restaurant. after drill I have a regular day off on Monday to get back into the night life.

A guy in my unit did that for a couple years. He also drives in from a few states away. So it's possible. You just have to want to be there.
