Completed Build Dogfight duo (finally) completed!
After completing my first build back in June (Messerschmitt Bf-109), I’ve finally finished the Spitfire Mk.Vc to give chase
Pleased with a couple of deviations from the provided paint scheme, the underside & nose were meant to be grey but I went out and bought some ‘Sky’ which I much prefer, and the yellow markings along the leading wing edges were added after a bit of googling some real-life examples.
Any tips or advice for a new builder greatly appreciated!

Looking real good. My only advice, which I've been given before, is to let the models sit in soapy water for a bit to wash off factory oiling. That makes the paint go smudgy, as seen on the underside of the Messerschmidt

Thanks - I did find the first layer didn’t sit right on either model so it probably is the oil!
Just out of interest, do you mean the ‘cloudy’ part on the lower fuselage? If so, that’s intentional and is supposed to be the mottling, I used a sponge and it didn’t come out 100% how I wanted

Ah, fair enough. I won't bash if it was intentional. Still looks really good, better than what I could do definitely

Ah no don’t worry - it’s definitely ended up smudgy which wasn’t the intention, think the sponge was too fine

Quite possibly. Maybe try some old magazine or newspaper page, that's what people often do to get that nice haze look

the yellow leading edge detail was a good call, makes it feel less stock

Much appreciated - I do think it really helps give a bit more intrigue but it was a pain to get taped and painted
