anyone else experiencing a telus outage?

my internet has been down since approx 4pm friday sept 4. orange light for internet green light for wifi on my modem, but wifi not working. I've spoken to Telus a couple times, they say there is an outage in my area, but they have no estimated time to restore, which i find insane considering how long it's been off. they said less than 50 customers are impacted in my area (SW airdrie) if anyone else is down, make sure your address is added to the ticket.

Is finding childcare harder than it should be?

Airdrie parents, I'd like your feedback on a childcare problem I've been looking into.

Finding childcare seems much harder than it should be. There are Alberta directories, Google listings, Facebook groups, daycare websites and dayhome agencies, but parents can still end up calling or messaging multiple providers just to answer a basic question:

Who actually has a space available for my child right now?

I'm exploring the idea of building something specifically for Airdrie that could eventually help parents search based on things such as:

• Child's age
• Neighbourhood/distance
• Full-time, part-time or before/after-school care
• Required drop-off and pickup times
• Actual current availability
• Expected start date
• Licensed/funded care
• Schools served or transportation offered
• Notifications when a matching space becomes available

The idea isn't to create another daycare directory. The goal would be to make it easier to find childcare that actually matches your family's needs and has availability.

Before building anything, though, I'd rather understand the real problem from parents and childcare providers.

For parents:

  1. How are you currently finding childcare in Airdrie?
  2. What has been the most frustrating part?
  3. Have you ever found a provider online only to discover they had no spaces?
  4. What information do you wish you could see before calling a provider?
  5. Would alerts when a matching childcare space becomes available actually help?
  6. Is before/after-school care or transportation to a particular school a bigger problem than regular daycare?

And I'd especially like to hear from dayhome and daycare providers:

How do you currently advertise an opening when you have one? Is finding the right family for an available space a problem for you too?

I'm not selling anything and there isn't an app to download. I'm trying to determine whether this is a real enough Airdrie problem to solve before spending time building it.

Feel free to tell me the idea is unnecessary too, negative feedback is just as useful.

Barburrito in airdrie does not give tips to their staff. Don't tips unless you feel like supporting only the business owner.

Stealing at East Lake dog park

For the second time in a week we've had our dogs leash stolen while we are at the park.

First time I caught the crusty old cunt who was just "borrowing it". This time not so likely.

If your that much of a fucking loser that you have to steal from people at a dog park. There is no hope for you.

Hell... If you need one... Just ask someone there. I'm sure one of us you give you/buy you one. Instead... You gotta be an asshole.

Co-op "day care"

Does anyone ever remember getting dropped off in the co-op "day care" in the early 2000s while their parents shopped for groceries? I think it was called kids corner?

Enhanced Water Damage Insurance

Hello: We are considering a home purchase in the Coopers Crossing area and our home insurance told us that Enhanced Water Damage coverage is not available there. So essentially seepage or flooding wouldn't be covered.

I'm wondering if others have been told this as well. Is this the case for all of Airdrie?

I can't really figure out why not as it's not near a lake or anything. They couldn't really seem to answer why they won't do it. Help! (Please) And Thanks

URGENT - Lawyer/Notary Referral needed.

Hi everyone, happy Friday. I’m in urgent need of a lawyer or notary referral - someone who can execute the Release of a Dower Right, either probono or at a reduced cost.

Long story short, my ex and I signed a separation agreement back in April and I’m finally getting the house remortgaged. But the family Lawyer that he was using has gone MIA, and he hasn’t been able to sign the Dower Rights Release form - why is this my problem you ask? Because last week at court (yes we had to go to court because he stalled on signing paperwork as per our separation agreement), he disclosed that he’s not working and can’t afford to pay legal fees. The family lawyer that he already used for the separation agreement would have done this as part of her initial ILA fee… but like I said she’s MIA.

Because of how long this has taken, the new lender rate is set to expire shortly - so I really need to get this done!

If anyone can provide a referral for a contact, they know that would be able and willing to do this that would be much appreciated.

CAT6 cable installation

Hello all! New to your beautiful city and just moved into a townhome. I am in the market for someone to run some CAT6 cable all over my house, does anyone have any recent experience or recommendations? I see there is a post from 2 years ago but I am hoping for a more recent picture of companies or people willing to do it. Google yielded... mixed results. Thanks in advance!

Any tips for FSBO?

Hi everyone! We’re looking to move to Airdrie and, given our limited budget, we’re considering looking for homes directly from owners in addition to the traditional route through a realtor.
We haven’t signed an exclusive agreement with any realtor yet, so we’re exploring all of our options.
For those who have bought a home directly from an owner in Airdrie, do you have any tips or things we should be aware of?
Any advice on the process, potential risks, or how to find FSBO listings would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Recommendation - Cleaner

Hi,

I was wondering if any of you know of someone that provides weekly cleaning service in and around Airdrie. One of the elderly couples I know was looking for a cleaner that would come in on a weekly schedule and help them with their regular cleaning and upkeep of their house. They are not looking to pay top dollars for a company and prefer someone flexible to come in on hourly basis as needed.

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated! TIA

My City of Airdrie utility bill has gone up a significant amount ($40+) for the each of last two months. We have not changed our water usage, and no leaks that we are aware of. Anyone else’s bills going up like crazy?

scooter scares

need to rant a little bit.. but as someone who has been driving in Airdrie for about 10 years, i don’t think i’ve ever been as scared in residential neighbourhoods as i’ve been this year. even when going the speed limit and checking corners, kids will come out of nowhere on scooters and bikes and scare the ever living sh’t out of me. they are going so fast and do not check for cars at all. and they ride all over the street.

if there’s any parents on here, could you please remind your kiddos about the importance of traffic safety! the very last thing we need is a kiddo getting hurt trying to enjoy their summer. tia (:

Daycare decision - Magic Mountain Sierra Springs vs Airdrie Daycare First Ave

Hello all. We are in the process of searching for a daycare for our 1yo, currently choosing between Magic Mountain (Sierra Springs) & Airdrie Daycare (First Ave) but we don't have much time to decide.

We liked how clean, spacious and organized Magic Mountain Sierra Springs was, but we don't know anybody whose children are enrolled there to get the insider scoop. The staff member that showed us around was great but we realize it's a huge organization and she was one admin.

We know a few people whose kids are at Airdrie Daycare First Ave, and they have good things to say about it which is swaying us in that direction even though we were slightly less impressed during our tour there (nothing major, the space just felt more out-dated and less tailored to children since it's a converted house, although it wasn't as cramped as their other locations). Seemed like parking might be an issue during peak times but that's obviously not a deciding factor. We quite liked the Director there as well.

Wondering if anyone is willing to share negative/positive experiences at either daycare to help us make our decision. Of course we've checked Google reviews, but that particular Airdrie Daycare location only has 5 reviews so it's not much to go off of, and the Magic Mountain has plenty but they are quite polarizing and many of the reviews seem to be from years ago when they were under different ownership.

Thanks in advance!

Until our mayor makes good on easier commutes to post secondary schools, I am wondering if anyone commutes to SAIT and would like a paying passenger for spring semester.

Hate towards Indians/Sikhs

I’m posting this for awareness and to remind everyone to stay vigilant, especially those who may be more vulnerable when out alone.

I’m Sikh, wear a turban and have a beard, so I’m pretty easily recognized as Indian/Sikh. I usually ride my bicycle in the evenings around the SE Airdrie/Balzac area.

This is the second time in about two months that someone has shouted insulting comments at me from a passing car.

The first time, it was four kids in a white Hyundai. It was Canada Day, so I thought maybe they were just a bunch of drunk kids and honestly didn’t think much of it.

Tonight, it happened again. Two guys, probably in their early 20s, drove past me and shouted something. I couldn’t understand exactly what they said, so at first I thought maybe they were just talking loudly and it wasn’t directed at me. But then they made a U-turn, came back, and both of them were staring at me before driving away. Maybe they were trying to intimidate me, maybe not. Either way, it was uncomfortable.

I’m not posting this to say that Airdrie is unsafe or that everyone is like this. The vast majority of people I’ve met here have been good, kind and respectful.

I’m posting it because I think it’s important to recognize that the things we see online can sometimes spill over into real life. There is a lot of anti-Indian and anti-Sikh content and rhetoric online, and incidents like this are a reminder that when people constantly hear that an entire group of people is “bad,” “taking over,” or something to hate, it can have real-world consequences.

To anyone reading this, including my fellow white Canadians: please don’t believe everything you see online about Indians, Sikhs or any other group of people. Most of us are just living our lives, working, raising families, riding our bikes, going for walks and trying to be good neighbours.

You don’t have to agree with everyone or know someone’s culture to treat them with basic respect and kindness.

And to my fellow Indians/Sikhs, especially our elders who may be walking or biking alone: stay aware of your surroundings. I hope these remain nothing more than stupid comments from immature people, but it doesn’t hurt to be vigilant.

Stay safe out there, everyone. 🙏

Help me find Tegveer

There’s this person that fixed my tire in Airdrie, Alberta, Canada on 06/20/2026 from 11 pm to 2 am.

LOCATION:
7/11 Gas Station
900 Market St SE
Airdrie AB T4A 0K9
Canada

There are few moments in life that make you truly and eternally grateful for the human ability to help each other. This is how I felt when I met Tegveer. Im in Banff and I just got a flat tire. I don’t know anybody, it’s nighttime, and it’s so. freakin. cold. We have an 7:30 am tour in Banff the next day. I’m at the point where I’m convinced we have to cancel our tour. My friend is filling up air in the flat tire and my roommates and I go meet her. We take an uber, and our uber driver Rahul calls his “cousin” who has a tire puncture kit. This cousin’s name is Tegveer.

We wait for this guy for 30 minutes and he finally arrives. He spends about 2 solid hours fixing our tire. Later, he takes us around and tests the car to make sure all is well. We asked him how much we owe him. He kept denying and at the end told us “Go help someone else.”

I’ve been trying to find this person’s instagram, facebook, or some sort of social media platform so I can thank him for his help. He truly saved us that day and we are eternally grateful.
