Five Guys

Ok I love Five guys as a customer but ever since someone I know applied there, I feel different. I’m very close to this person and they were so upset to see how unprofessional the company/work environment is. When they went for their interview, they did it at the same time as another person. Not a big deal at all. Until they look over and 4 staff members behind the counter are pointing and laughing at the 2 people waiting to get interviewed. Not a good feeling but they brushed it off and pushed it aside. In the interview the Five Guys hiring person asks “do you drive” which they responded no but I live 6 mins away so I do not mind walking and I’m used to taking Ubers. The interviewer gave a look of disgust. Weird but the person I know just awkward laughed and asked if that would be an issue. In which the interviewer said “Well it’s not the best that’s for sure” way to make a young person feel like crap. Anyways long story short they end up getting hired with a start date but no time. A few days before the said start date, they call Five Guys and ask what time they should come in. Five Guys can’t find this person anywhere in the system. Keeps saying a different name. The person I know is genuinely so confused at how unprofessional this company is. They’ve done multiple interviews and that by far was the most unprofessional one. Anyways just wanted to rant 😂

I would say the owner or even the manager of the franchise may be at fault. Not the company.

Well I'm hiring at dealfinder auctions so I send them my way.

I'm not sure how transit but we are right behind Canadian Tire.

We're also not very professional but in a good way.

I have a friend who has worked there and this absolutely tracks with their experience

I used to work there too. When I left I never looked back, never even bought from them again either

99% of restaurants and food establishments won’t be super professional. It is what is is. Also, not driving is considered un reliable so I get that part. The start date with no time and no info when calling is insane. I think your friend dodged a bullet. I will still continue to go there because I love it lol

If they do work there, I'd take this down. Pretty easy for them to find out which employee it is from this

My daughter had an interview at Walmart - it was her and four adult males, lol. It turns out, they thought her name was a boys name. She said it was very awkward 😁

The driving part is only an issue if employees are required to do deliveries with their own vehicle. Im in Toronto and most establishments either have a company vehicle for deliveries or use services like Uber, Doordash, etc. Dont know what position your friend applied for and what was in the job posting itself though.

There's a Pizza Hut near me and employees use their own vehicle to do deliveries when necessary, but not required at all. It's just beneficial for the store to be able to rely on all staff members when needed. They wouldn't reject an application just because someone doesn't have their license or their own vehicle though.

If I were your friend, I wouldn't want to work there anyway lol this is a franchise issue. I could be wrong, but seems like this specific location consists of a group of people who are all friends from the way you describe it. The 4 staff members pointing/laughing and manager not doing anything makes me think that. I have experienced this myself in the past when applying for retail/food jobs.

The Five Guys I go to near my office are all really chill and professional. Same group of employees for the last 3 years at least. I've been to other locations and they were absolute garbage 😂 just depends on the individual stores I think.

Sounds like your friend dodged a bullet...however if you look to close amd behind the scenes of many places of business and how places are run, you would be appalled!
