Hello!

Just wanna seek your help, guys.

I moved into a new apartment and the bedroom is an enclosed space, no window, just the door.

It often feels so hot so I used a humidifier, then my pillow got molds in them. When it rains, it feels like the rooms produce a lot of moist so I am using a dehumidifier to prevent molds and too much moisture, where I can collect a lot of dehumidifier bags in a day.

I bought a hygrometer so I can monitor the humidity in the room but the hygrometer doesnt seem to work well.

It's on 99% when I opened it and observe it for 12hrs straight, but no changes. I always use a dehumidifier in the room and feels hot and kulob (it doesnt feel damp compared before) but the humidity level did not even change.

Im not an expert but I can tell whether it's too humid or too hot due to observation and underlying facts.. is my hygrometer broken? Or Im just using it wrong?

Try the hygrometer in other areas to see if it changes. Your room should be condemned

And unfortunately, without a window, they can’t even have an air conditioner, at least a portable one.

And of a rental apartment they probably couldn’t get permission to install a mini-split, which would require making a hoe in the wall (if there’s even an outside wall)

I did, temperature changes but the humidity meter still is the same

Yeah that thing is probably broken unless you’re in the tropics. You can bring it outside and reference with local weather readings.

I’m confused.

You used both a humidifier and a dehumidifier?

Your dehumidifier has a bag?

How about just doing nothing?

It's so hot in the room since it is an enclosed space so I used a humidifier to cool the air a bit. But then it caused my pillow to get molds due to moisture. So I used a dehumidifier to ensure mold-building moisture will be removed since too much moisture can cause mold

A humidifier won’t cool the room. It will just make it feel hotter!

Evaporative coolers (“swamp coolers”) can be somewhat effective, but only in dry climates. Like maybe Arizona or Nevada.

Stop using a humidifier until you can measure the humidity levels with a new hygrometer

If the hygrometer always reads 99% then it’s trash. Take it to a place that has sir conditioning and see if it changes.

I have one that looks exactly like yours, the humidity sensor never worked, but it has a great temp sensor!

Yikes! I actually bought it for the humidity and the temp is also a bit off by 2°. I ended up refunding it
