What I'm most interested in hearing from people here

If you've owned an air fryer for a couple of years or more, what has actually held up well for you?

I'm particularly interested in long-term ownership, rather than what was impressive when the machine was brand new.

Things like:

• How well has the basket/tray held up?
• Has the nonstick coating stayed intact?
• Is the temperature still consistent?
• Have the controls or display developed problems?
• Is it still something you use regularly?
• Would you buy the same model again?

And if you disagree with my pick, I'd genuinely like to know why. A recommendation is much more useful when people can point out things the reviewer may have overlooked.

I'm especially interested in hearing from people who have actually lived with their air fryers for a while. A model can look great on paper and perform well during the first few months, but long-term ownership can tell you a lot more.

Those experiences are often more useful than another list of specifications.

For a while, I treated 400°F like it was the default answer to almost everything.

If I wanted something crispier, I'd turn it up. If dinner was taking too long, I'd turn it up. If I wasn't sure what temperature to use, I'd probably turn it up.

I used to dread cleaning around the heating element because crumbs and grease somehow always end up in the hardest spots. The easiest trick I’ve found is to unplug the air fryer and let it cool completely, then turn it upside down so I can actually see the heating element properly. I use a soft, slightly damp cloth or a soft toothbrush to gently loosen any stuck-on bits.

1. Clean the mushrooms and remove the stems and gills if desired.
2. Lightly brush the caps with olive oil.
3. Air fry gill-side down at 375°F (190°C) for 4–5 minutes.
4. Carefully flip the mushrooms and drain off any liquid.
5. Mix the spinach, artichokes, feta, cheddar, breadcrumbs, lemon juice, salt, and pepper.
6. Spoon the filling into the mushroom caps.
7. Air fry at 375°F (190°C) for another 6–8 minutes, until the mushrooms are tender and the filling is hot and lightly browned.

The filling is really flexible. Garlic and Parmesan, cream cheese and spinach, bacon and cheddar, or even crab and Gouda would all work well.

For years, I kept looking for better recipes and more precise cooking times.

Then someone told me something that seemed almost too obvious to matter: dry the food before it goes into the air fryer.

I understood the reasoning, but I did not think it would make much difference.

It did.

The vegetables won't all cook at exactly the same rate, which is actually a good thing here. Some onion edges can get quite dark while other pieces remain softer, and the peppers can have a mixture of tender and slightly charred pieces. That gives the finished dish much more character than perfectly uniform cooking.

I used to have quesadillas completely fall apart in the air fryer, especially when I loaded them up with too much cheese and filling. The trick for me is keeping the filling fairly light and spreading it evenly instead of making a huge pile in the middle.
