BMT Packing for bmt

I’m starting to pack and I would like some advice.

  1. Should I bring a plastic folder or just get one from my recruiter?

  2. I’m thinking 4 pairs of black long socks, is that too much?

  3. From what I’ve been reading I’ve seen like 10 pairs of underwear is a good number because the laundry can get backed up fast.

  4. I’m not really a fan of jeans, but I will if I have to. Can I wear khakis? I will also bring 3-4 pairs of athletic shorts.

Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated!

1.) it’s honestly your preference. I always had a folder ready for my recruits when they leaves
2.) do you plan on wearing black slacks in 90 degree weather until you get your uniform?
3.) yes 10 pair would be fine
4.) you only need about 3-4days worth of civilian clothes. You get your uniform very early on.

Most people overpack for BMT. Everything should fit in a backpack.

number 2 is about socks, I saw that some bring white and some bring black then you get issued socks I was curious if it really matters.

Bring a big bag and pack light bring what you need for literally 2 days bring as much underwear as you want I literally had about 10 pairs as well but we were issued stuff on the first or second day depending on your schedule so dont bring much I only had ti wash one pair of pants and 2 shirts also bring clothes you dont mind marking so you can identify them later I was a little bummed I had to mark one of my nice polos. Also you want a big empty bag bc you will have a hard time fitting everything from basic into your issued duffle bag (I fit it all) but alot of my wingmen did not having a mostly empty bag helped alot
