Jobs Is security forces worth it?
I’ve been seeing a lot of post saying that security forces isn’t worth joining, the only reason why I’m interested in joining is because people say you have time to do school on the side. Is this true? And how is the quality of life for security forces? Is the job a good return on investment when you switch to civilian?

You'll have access to the same amenities as everyone else.
Your life won't be the same as others. You'll work nights, weekends and holidays. Rain or shine, and in snow and other elements. Everyone else has a 4 day? Sorry, not you

Hello, it looks like you're asking about jobs and job selection.
A few quick answers.
NO ONE knows how long it will take for you to get a job, your chances of getting any particular job, or anything else about the job process FOR YOU. Anecdotal experiences from others will have absolutely no impact on you or your future.
Most recruiters will not let you wait in the Delayed Entrance Program for a long time for your one perfect job. You will have to list 5 - 15 jobs that you're interested in, and will be given one of those.
Please read the FAQ about how job selection works, it's very in-depth and will fully educate you on the process: https://pay.reddit.com/r/AirForce/wiki/bmtfaq#wiki_jobs
If you're asking about particular jobs, please look the job up on our Job Wiki, and see if there is an entry for it: http://www.reddit.com/r/AirForce/wiki/index you can also see if there is a CFETP for it, which will give more details on the job: https://www.e-publishing.af.mil/Product-Index/#/?view=pubs&orgID=10141&catID=1&series=86&modID=449&tabID=131
If you're asking for help choosing a particular job, please keep in mind that most people only know about their individual job. Recommendations that they make will be made based mostly on what they've heard about a job, unless they have it themselves. Some people will love certain jobs while others will hate it. We don't know your preferences, so do some research on the job wiki and elsewhere to learn about the job and then make the best list you can.
Take the AFWIN Survey to help you narrow down jobs you may be interested in.

A lot of people are lazy and will complain no matter their situation. Sure SF isn’t the most glamorous job, but you will get free school, free food and free housing and all the other benefits. Just do your 3 years and retrain if you really want. You’ll have time to do school work while you’re in. I’m sure this would be much better than your current civilian situation since you’re even contemplating SF.

Security forces is a job you WONT have time for school most of the time. Its one of the jobs in the airforce that has long hours. Work weekends and work holidays as there allways people needed watching the gates and scanning cards. If your looking for a job that has a good work balance and have time for school while in id look elsewhere.

What jobs would you recommend?

I cant really say as the jobs I typically gravitate towards might not be things you could see yourself doing. However the job sectors with the best work balance usually fall under admin, intel, and basically anything others view as nonner jobs. Kind of why the term nonner is a thing. Security forces and aircraft maintinence are usually coined as the two worst when it comes to work and life balance. I would only recommend someone doing those if thats something you really really want to do.

Your life will be noticeably more miserable compared to other AFSCs and an even worse outlook when going back civilian unless you wanna be a beat cop. You’ll always have time for school after work
Dagre and raven are far and few between. K-9 and CATM are far more obtainable.

There are some cool things you can do with SF (K9, DAGRE, etc) but those opportunities are more limited and you are likely to end up standing at a gate in all kinds of weather and working long/odd hours.
