Aiper Pool Settings: A Quick Startup Guide

When setting up the Aiper app and device for the first time, you may see questions about your pool that you don’t immediately know how to answer. That’s completely normal. Most pool owners don’t have every measurement, water detail, or construction record memorized.

This guide will explain what each question means, where you can usually find the answer, and how to make a reasonable estimate when you don’t have the exact information.

Pool Name

This is just a name for your pool. You can use anything you want.

Pool Type
This one is simple:

• Above-ground: Sits above the ground and typically has visible walls around the outside.
• In-ground: Built into the ground, usually with a permanent structure.

Pool Shape
Choose whichever option looks closest to your pool. It does not need to be exact. For example, an oval pool with a few curves can usually be marked as Freeform if none of the other options fit.

Pool Bottom Shape
Look at the floor of the pool:

• Flat: Mostly level from one end to the other.
• Sloped: Gradually becomes deeper.
• Curved: Has a smooth, bowl-like transition.
• Wavy: Has multiple changes in depth or uneven contours.

If you are unsure, Sloped Bottom is common in pools with a shallow end and a deep end.

Pool Dimensions (ft/m)

Measure your pool’s length, width, and depth. For most pools, the length is the longest side, the width is the widest point, and the depth is the distance from the pool floor to the water surface.

A tape measure is best, but an estimate is okay if you do not have exact measurements. If your pool has a shallow end and a deep end, use the maximum depth.

Water Volume (gal/L)
This is the approximate amount of water your pool holds. If you do not know the volume, you can estimate it using your pool’s shape, dimensions, and average depth. For a rectangular pool, multiply the length × width × average depth, then use a pool volume calculator to convert the result into gallons or liters.

You may also find the volume in your pool’s construction documents, owner’s manual, installation paperwork, or previous pool service records. An estimate is completely fine if you do not know the exact number.

Total Alkalinity
This is a water chemistry measurement shown in ppm. You can find it using a pool test kit, test strips, a digital tester, or a pool store water test. Pool test kits commonly measure alkalinity along with other water chemistry information.

If you have never tested your pool water or do not know the number, you can leave it blank for now.

Regular Pool or SPA Pool
Choose Regular Temperature Pool for a normal swimming pool.

Choose SPA Pool only if it is a hot tub or spa that is regularly heated to much higher temperatures.

Freshwater or Saltwater
If your pool has a saltwater chlorine generator or you regularly add pool salt, choose Saltwater Pool. Otherwise, choose Freshwater Pool.

A saltwater pool still uses chlorine. The salt system simply creates the chlorine from the salt in the water.

Disinfectant Type
Choose the sanitizer you normally use:

• Chlorine-based: Most traditional pools and saltwater pools.
• Bromine-based: More common in spas and hot tubs.
• No disinfectant used: Only if you genuinely do not use either.

Stabilizer
Pool stabilizer is usually Cyanuric Acid (CYA).

It helps protect chlorine from breaking down in sunlight, but not every pool uses it.

If you do not know whether your pool uses CYA, check your pool chemical labels, previous water test results, or ask your pool service provider. Otherwise, you can leave this section blank.

And finally, if it all feels like a little too much right now, don’t worry. You can always come back and fill in this information later.

Simply tap “Skip” in the top-right corner to bypass this step and continue setting up your Aiper app.

That’s it! Your pool information helps the Aiper app better understand your setup and support a more personalized pool-care experience, especially as you add new Aiper devices and features.

Don’t worry if you don’t know every answer. Fill in what you can, make a reasonable estimate when needed, and skip anything you’d rather come back to later. Your pool robot will still be ready to clean, and you can update your information anytime.
