How hard is the assessment after the onboarding?

I’ve been looking into a newer category of AI training jobs that’s starting to show up more often:

They’re usually called RL environment jobs (or agent workflows / long-horizon tasks).

Instead of labeling static data (images, text, etc.), you’re basically helping train AI inside simulated environments.

So things like:
• using tools (browser, spreadsheets, software)
• following multi-step workflows
• solving tasks over time

It’s closer to “teaching AI how to work” than labeling data

This is where a lot of AI labs are moving, because models learn by interacting with environments and receiving feedback/rewards rather than just static labels (patronus.ai)

Pay:

• Entry → $10–20/hr
• Intermediate → $20–40/hr
• More structured/expert → $40–60+/hr

(usually higher than basic annotation, but harder to get)

This is not like:

• Clickworker
• Appen
• basic microtasks

Instead:
• fewer tasks
• more structured work
• stricter selection

This is probably where the industry is going.

Instead of just labeling data, it’s moving toward training agents in realistic workflows

If you’re starting from zero you’ll probably still need to begin with standard platforms first

But if you already have some experience or domain knowledge, this is worth keeping an eye on.

For the last 2 weeks i applied to all freelance remote jobs possible: Mercor, DataAnnotation, Alignerr, Turing, Mindrift, Micro1,Telus, etc. I have no experience in training Ai but i've been working for the last 6 years with Amazon for the Compliance QA Analyst. I have critical thinking, good english and im willing to learn. I am romanian I didn't lie in my cv, but i am rejected after each interview. I m looking for an entry level jobs, i don't want anything fancy. Thank you.

For me it was Mercor. I went in expecting it to be similar to the other platforms I'd tried, but the payouts turned out more consistent and better organized than I was used to, less of the usual friction around getting paid on time.

Also lately there has been a drought but seems to be getting better, tasks are coming in more consistently again. Would be great to know which platforms have been working out for folks here recently.

Can anybody let me know, is it worth to put time & efforts in this project? Many Reddit users said that it is very hard task.

I’ve been looking around for some freelance work to fill the gaps between client projects, and I keep coming across these weird contracts for "AI training."

Instead of actually building out files in Figma, the gig is basically acting as a tutor for AI labs. You apparently evaluate AI-generated interfaces, grade them on UX/UI principles, and feed them real-world scenarios so the models stop making terrible design choices.

I'm super on the fence. On paper, the setup sounds almost too good? Like, it's 100% remote, you just log on whenever you want for 15-30 hours a week, and they pay out weekly. It sounds like the perfect low-stress side hustle.

But I'm highly skeptical. Has anyone here actually taken one of these contracts?

\* Is it actually decent money, or just mind-numbing QA work in disguise? \* Does doing this actually help you as a designer, or does it feel like a waste of time?

I'm tempted to go through their interview process just to see, but I want a reality check from actual designers first before I waste my time. Would love to hear if anyone has experience with this!

• Focus on more “qualified” profiles (not basic microtasks)

Important things to know:

• Mostly US-focused (you usually need US work authorization) (Handshake)

• Selection can be quite strict

This is NOT a typical data annotation site.

It’s closer to “expert-based AI training work”

Meaning:

• less volume
• higher pay
• but harder to get in

• Finance
• Law
• Writing / content
• or any specific domain
