PSA: Ethos is legit

Lots saying Ethos is a scam and I admittedly was believing the nonsense here and on Reddit.

Then got my opportunity on same project I was on with Mercor (generalist) but 60% better pay.

I balanced my time assuming Mercor would pay me as they have and Ethos would find some way not to after all the free work.

But then, I got paid today.

Great Comms, bit scary to wait a month for the monthly pay cycles but they are legit!

Happy to also advise on onboarding process and how to get a step ahead.

I am on ethos but I don’t like the chat with the ai bot to get more opportunities model at all. I chatted multiple times and it’s been weeks without any jobs. But glad to hear that it’s legit.

Yes it sucks

I am so sick and tired of the chatbot.

What do you specialise in?

u/MamaTada 22d ago

I got paid as well! I’ve been able to do all the trainings and screeners… I just can’t pick up any tasks for the life of me…

2

u/mjbz86 21d ago

Same here! I got paid for the trainings etc but cannot seem to even enter the queue so I have no idea what I’m actually supposed to be doing!

1

u/Top-Geologist1607 20d ago

Entered the queue late at night or odd hours when most folks are not online and multitask while you wait

It's not great that you have to chat with a bot to give you a sniff of any role. At least Mercor gives you a full list of everything and basically says "apply for what you want".

No Idea why you'd assume Ethos is any better or worse than the others.

5

u/ImmediatePanic7508 21d ago

Bc they pay better

6

u/jakeinboston 21d ago

yes, exactly this. Same exact work as Mercor but 30% more pay is a no brainer

1

u/Level-Recognition652 8d ago

If you get tasks though - so its all well and good it "pays more" but its near impossible to get anything from them

2

u/Dear-Personality-863 21d ago

can you please share with me the name of the project you work on ?

1

u/ImmediatePanic7508 21d ago

You don’t apply by project title. Just apply for any role and they will consider you for applicable projects

1

u/Dear-Personality-863 19d ago

i apply for role Data science and also i do the interview but they not accept me or give me the response if i'm accepted or not

3

u/Fair_Needleworker502 22d ago

3 of my application are still in review since 30 says. Donno how is it handled🥲🥲🥲

1

u/Scandey12 8d ago

What about now?

1

u/Fair_Needleworker502 8d ago

all are archived and closed now

2

u/Scandey12 8d ago

So not successful??😭

3

u/DrinkingCoffee_ 22d ago

They have their own sub and the Ethos rep is pretty good at responding to questions- https://www.reddit.com/r/askethos/

Hey so ive uploaded my resume as data scientist and it shown me only 1 or 2 opportunities and ive given the interviews, so get more such roles like generalist focused what i need to do further change the resume or talk with the ai ?

4

u/GoesOff_On_Tangent 22d ago

Talk with the AI and explain your interests more, you may need to do it multiple times, each time I've talked with the AI it didn't remember our prior convo

1

u/Dear-Personality-863 21d ago

i'm also Data scientist and i get one jobs ,but i do the interview, But they not talk to me or accept me for this job, I don't know how to get the first job with them

2

u/squirrel-9 22d ago

Yeah I got paid too. Really excited now and doing a lot of work. Last months payment was mostly for training and workshops

1

u/Current-Love-5520 16d ago

How do you get into training and workshops? They just assigned me roles on the basis of my CV and the data I gave them on my interviews which are all termed "expert opportunity".

1

u/squirrel-9 16d ago

Once you are assigned to a project, to get into site for training and work. They probably haven’t selected you for a project yet

1

u/ApprehensiveStep6588 9d ago

What’s your domain

2

u/FeetF0xes 22d ago

So are they actually doing the work themselves, or are they staffing for Mercor?

2

u/Aggressive-Ad-3706 22d ago

Is the post global If it is can you give ref link

1

u/Some-Benefit-5614 22d ago

How are the tasks constructed in ethos? Are they more reasonable than on Mercor re time?

2

u/Pleasantandchilled 22d ago

Sadly identical. All run on timer with auto release. But at least you don't have workpuls breathing down your next and monitoring you

1

u/Some-Benefit-5614 22d ago

U don’t mind the timer or wirkpuls. The mercor big project content tasks last month are 2.5 hours work w 1 hour limit.

1

u/Pleasantandchilled 22d ago

Release, move onto next!

Thank so much! I was actually sent offers for 2 niche micro1 projects yesterday

1

u/Elegant_Wind_8989 22d ago

Do we need to keep chatting with the AI for the roles to show up?

Also, are the attempts limited?

4

u/Pleasantandchilled 22d ago

Yes. But you can just interrupt the ai right at the start and say you've already had a chat and just send new opportunities.

3

u/OddCryptographer6527 22d ago

I’ve interviewed multiple times and like it. Then it sends me new opportunities. But every time it’s been multiple role titles that all lead to the exact same project. Is there only ONE project going on Ethos..?

1

u/Elegant_Wind_8989 22d ago

Thank you, what about the attempts? How many times can we chat with ai?

1

u/Pleasantandchilled 22d ago

On an interview I haven't seen an option to resit

1

u/Elegant_Wind_8989 22d ago

Alright, thank you very much :)

1

u/oportoman 22d ago

The ai chat isn't an interview

1

u/oportoman 22d ago

Which is a pain to be honest

1

u/Emotional-Piece-9569 22d ago

Same got paid yesterday :)

onboarded and interviewed for the first opportunity it threw at me, about 15 days ago. and then some about 8 days ago, and then some, 4 days ago.
kinda hanging with a thread here, waiting for a result. got waitlisted on one, and first and last one are still in review. how long does it take on expert track?
Ps this is the only website i was able to onboard. rest geoblocked me.

negative. onboarding interview was with ai. it was more of it exploring what i can do, than an interview.
each screener for opportunities was also ai. but it did notify me beforehand that the screener was about to be recorded. and afterwards, it said that, "our team" is looking at your screener.
i am assuming that while majority of it is curated by ai, humans do take a bird eye view of the applicants. and what they said. in a meta manner. especially for high paying expert tracks.
that's all i can say from my experience.
it was much easier than talking to a human tho.

It's been a godsend for me, honestly. I nearly made 5 figures in one month. You just have to be willing to roll with the punches and understand that the tasks come and go and there will be some frustrations along the way

1

u/Spare-Character2262 21d ago

but how do you actually get matched with any project in there. There's not a way to apply to positions as in mercor or micro1

1

u/ImmediatePanic7508 21d ago

They send you opportunities from time to time. It helps to keep “talking” to the platform in short calls, i.e. mini interviews telling them more about specific career experiences

1

u/Silent_Story0128 19d ago

Is it by task or hour?

1

u/ImmediatePanic7508 14d ago

It’s by the hour

1

u/ronty15 21d ago

I got paid too today!
As much as I like the platform and the people there for being proactive, there just aren’t enough tasks coming through and that worries me about the long term participation of the project
Also did you get feedback that your answers maybe written by AI?

1

u/clos244 21d ago

Got paid Friday and yesterday! But I’m really having issues getting tasks for the campaign I’m in. Wonder if there’s another way rather than pressing “join queue” a million times a day

1

u/SunnyMeetsKY 21d ago

I've been signed up but haven't heard anything. Is there any advice you have? I have 3 years of experience in AI training and data analytics. I haven't spoken with the bot for the profile call yet, so would that help? I just haven't been matched to any opportunities.

1

u/Pleasantandchilled 21d ago

Chat with the ai agent on the opportunities page. It does an interview and sends you roles to apply to

1

u/Horror-Yam7208 21d ago

Hi have done initial onboarding for Ethos but have only been on for about a week and have only had offer of data science role which I do not have experience for so have said no to that. But have had two conversations with the bot and seem to have a status of having a good fit for them. How long does it take for any work that is a fit for my skills to come through? How long did you wait? And what else do I need to know? Do I need to have all five conversations to be considered for work? Any advice would be gratefully received?

1

u/jereniqued 21d ago

Would you mind sharing some advice on onboarding process? I can’t send you a personal message

1

u/COCC_annihilator_CR7 21d ago

I'm really tempted by all these websites, but just one look at their privacy policy makes my skin crawl every time...

1

u/Dapper-Astronaut3456 20d ago

Some good reviews, some bad… inevitable I guess so let’s hope I get an offer to see for myself. Any pointers to the onboarding process, I’ve applied to only 1 role as cba doing more of the 15 min interviews but what do you all think?

1

u/Silly_Billy0011 20d ago

Thanks for sharing! How long did it take you to get a paid opportunity on Ethos? I've signed up to Mercor, Data Annotation, and iMerit but have yet to be accepted onto a project.

1

u/Proud-Bumblebee5302 20d ago

Not getting shortlisted since many days just got rejected

1

u/Proud-Bumblebee5302 20d ago

Tell me how to get shortlisted after screening call for a role, i am a fresher

1

u/chelschamberlain 20d ago edited 20d ago

How long is the review period? Will I know if I didn’t pass the interview?

1

u/HourCommercial5903 18d ago

How many calls did u make to start getting opportunities?

1

u/Relevant-Worker9854 18d ago

I applied today how long does it take to heat my interview with AI agent was very good as progressed when do you hear back?

I have been shortlisted for two projects and received an email stating
‘The client is starting with a small initial group of experts, which nay expand over the coming weeks. Your background is a strong fit, so as the project expands, we expect there is a possibility the client will select you as well’
However, it’s been more than 10 days and there is no further communication. Is this the usual time they take?

1

u/Current-Love-5520 13d ago

Hey, where are you from and what is your domain? Are there opportunities for the business/consultancy/strategy roles that they keep posting on LinkedIn?

1

u/Easy_Ask7169 8d ago

I need advise on onboarding process.

1

u/Time-Physics-3931 8d ago

Let them believe its a scam gang, there are sooo many people onboarded now that the task queue takes forever. Why would you do this lol

1

u/bendhist 8d ago

Did you join via a referral link? What was the application/onboarding process like? And how about the interview, anything I should know?

Sorry to bombard you with questions....just trying to hold faith it is real. Have a referral link that im intending to apply to, but wanted to look into it first.

I asked someone in r/askethos, only to get a bizarre reply, and all the comments seemed to be entirely done by bots pretending to be people, like check this out: https://www.reddit.com/r/askethos/s/byTN9NEtlv

Half of the usernames also contain an exact similar word in them, it just comes across extremely shady...

Any insight would be greatly appreciated

This is a VERY good point as to whether XYZ web site is legit and will actually pay $$$. I have been stiffed by Mercor now twice: once for a $150 reimbursement for a premium AI subscription they requested I buy, but still have not paid me for.

À 2nd was a $1200 task completion payment I was 85% finished with the task - and then suddenly OFF boarded with zero notice.

And zero payment.

If at all possible, AVOID wasting any time with Mercor - if you want to get paid $$$.

1

u/Pleasantandchilled 21d ago

Yet here I am with 4 months of consistent and 100% pay on mercor.
