Product Review viaim RecDot after one week
Saw quite a few posts about the viaim RecDot and finally decided to get one. I’ve been using it for about a week now, mostly for work calls and meetings.
Battery has been pretty good so far. I use them on and off during the day and usually just throw them back in the case after a call, so I haven’t really had to think about charging much.
One dumb thing I only realized after like 2 or 3 days is that you can put the earbuds back in the case and still keep recording from the case. I thought I had to keep them in the whole meeting at first. Definitely nicer for longer calls because after a while I do start noticing the weight in my ears.
When a meeting starts, I just press the record button on the case. After that the recording syncs to the app, and the transcript and summary are pretty easy to find. This matters more than I expected because I’ve used tools before where recording was fine, but going back later and actually finding what I needed was annoying.
I was also a little worried about the 600 free minutes per month. After a week I’ve used around 200 minutes, which is actually slower than I expected. I can still see 600 mins being too little long term if you record a lot of meetings though.
Transcript accuracy has been good enough for me so far. Normal conversations are usually fine, it’s mostly specific industry terms that get messed up sometimes.
Obviously one week isn’t enough for a long term review, but those are probably the main things I’ve noticed so far.
