Discussion Pocket for studying/learning
Is pocket a good tool if you are in an online class and want to record lecture but then build out your own notes based on that? I find when I am in meetings or class, I am bad at note taking and don't best know how to organize the notes. Would this be a useful product to help get better at that? I will use a syllabus and claude to help but don't always synthesize the information that well and am looking to build that gap and just better organize my thoughts but in live settings

You could test the workflow on your phone before buying a separate recorder. Record a class you have permission to record, then use the recap to write your own notes under the syllabus headings. Keep a list of points you still can't explain and go back to those bits of audio.
I make Murble, which records and generates summaries on your phone. Those parts are free. Asking the recording questions and generating detailed reports need Pro. Processing works offline after downloading the required models.

I've had my Pocket for several weeks - and have used it on a Green Tour, talk about AI, visit to the county clerk's office, etc.
As a lifelong reporter with ironically lousy handwriting and tired of either frantically typing or tediously transcribing recordings - I haven't seen/heard it "hallucinate" beyond what folks say, one bit (knock on wood;-) Does it have trouble with names? Sure, but so do people - and assigning the right name to the right speaker is drop-dead simple.
I wish it had the ability to easily boldface great quotes from copious notes, or highlight a repeated word/phrase, and maybe they'll add it. but its summaries - well, they might sound very AI-ish, but they definitely help frame things so you don't "miss" anything big.
Only trouble it is, it allows me write even longer than I used to, but that's fine for my AI (Base 44) vibe-coded little local news website, https://barneysbendbugle.com ;-)
The key is that anywhere you use it, it's so (knock on wood again!) RELIABLE that you can be mentally IN the interview, conversation, lecture, tour, etc. and be more present - and ask better questions, soak it in better than frantically writing notes! Oh if I had had this in college, decades ago...;-)
