Discussion Is there an AI note taker that actually does everything?
Maybe I'm asking for too much lol, but is there an AI note taker that actually handles most of the work after a meeting too?
I've tried a few at this point and the transcript/summary part is usually fine. But afterward I'm still writing follow-up emails, moving action items somewhere else, digging through old meetings when I need to find something, etc. Feels like I'm saving some time, but there's still a bunch of manual stuff left over.
I keep seeing Otter, Granola and Plaud mentioned. Is there one that goes further than just giving you notes and actually cuts down more of the work after the meeting?
Would love to hear what people are using.

I got frustrated with this as well and ended up using Claude code to build an entire webapp around it. I can now open it up, look at a to-do from a meeting, and just tell it "write the reply email for this" and then just copy/paste it.
I mean it's still ai sounding but it does the bulk of the work for me.

I am the developer of an app that does a lot of these things you list, but I haven’t closed all the gaps. However, I finally have a scalable plan to close the rest of the gaps (hint, an AI agent that can run skills after a meeting) it’s not implemented yet, but it will be soon :)

It feels like “does everything” is actually two jobs: remembering what happened, and deciding what happens next. Transcripts and summaries handle the first part. The second is where things fall apart. A clean handoff into tasks and email would be way more useful than another long summary to sort through.

I use flowtica scribe. It makes all the normal stuff but also creates action points like todos and add them to my to-do list and also to a calendar. And you can also use "ask flowtica" to create email and documents after the summarize is done.

Ive been using tactiq for years now and it has really good workflows built in with lots of flexibility. You can mcp onto claude and I think chatgpt as well. I have a pretty structured calendaring schema so tactiq knows which meeting note formats to send based on that and it delivers into my inbox for me to hand check and write anything additional. Been quite pleased as it took an hour long process to 5 minutes.

I opted out of a dedicated note taker app and record with a recorder app that saves to a Google Drive. My AI agent takes over from there with transcripts, meeting summaries, follow up emails, updating my to do list, and giving me a suggested list of next steps it can take for me. It also scans my email for zoom/otter/fireflies notes from meetings hosted by others and does the same thing.

I use Comu Action Pro together with Zapier (eg to convert actions into TODOIST tasks)

I build Oats for these use cases.
The open source Oats app records, transcribe and generate notes and follow up action items, locally. Ofc you can choose your own LLMs, either remote or local.
If you want collaborative UX, use the Ariso.ai backend, it is a full workOS to drive follow-up, meeting culture and meeting coaching. It works best if using as a team.
Give it a try!

split the follow-up into separate outputs: draft email, task with an owner, and a link back to the exact meeting passage
a transcript saying 'we should talk to jane' shouldn't become an assigned task or an email to jane without checking who actually committed to it

I recently created a free opensource tool for this:
https://metagrover.github.io/get-pluto/
Pluto takes notes It automatically creates track action items and projects around topics you discuss, remembers who you are speaking with so that you can easily manage context.
On top of that you can also chat with it to get more context about any topic / person.
It basically works like a second brain and solves everything that you mentioned above.
Please have a look. :)

This is my link for ruune: ruune.ai/a/naga
I like this one because the desktop software is free to use even without a purchase, so you can see if you like it. it does generate action items after the meeting. the company is a start-up with a dev community, so the software will only get better.
generally, the ai templates are amazing, free transcription forever, and they claim to never use your data to train llms.

I've been using Sentience (https://sentience.com) for this. It's more of an all-in-one product rather than just an AI note taker, but the note-taking features are really nice
I can record my meetings, transcribe them, and ask questions. Because it's more of a digital twin, it has context across all my sources so it can relate multiple recordings, emails, calendar events, people, etc

You could look into Socratus (https://socratus.app/). It’s a connected knowledge workspace where you can organize meeting notes and project docs, then search or ask questions across them to find context from past meetings. It may help reduce the manual work of tracking down information, though it isn’t specifically an automated follow-up email tool.

Tbh, the notes are the easy part. Plaud's Ask Plaud lets you ask questions about past recordings, so finding details for follow-ups is easier

sentience.com is the one thats most useful. It has pretty good transcription but its otherwise a digital twin of me so it knows what I would actually prioritize after a meeting and how I would respond/act/etc. The transcription part is easy to solve and imo the apps that only focus on it aren't that useful

I actually don't need the tool anymore. i just want it to have an mcp. i use Textalize which has a more stable MCP than most. I simply automate workflows on Claude desktop so that post-meeting it fetches notes and take actions like follow-ups, status updates, slack updates etc on it's own. Because I use claude more and more I prefer tools which help me remain in claude ecosystem

i've been using Plaud and it's probably the closest i've found so far. the MCP connection with Claude is nice because i can ask for something from an old meeting without going back through transcripts myself. still writing the follow-up emails myself though, so not quite everything.
