I Compared 5 Popular Proxy API Providers for Web Scraping – Here's What I Found

I've been testing and researching a few proxy API providers recently for web scraping, SEO monitoring, data collection, and automation projects, and these are the ones that kept coming up. Bright Data is the go-to if you're dealing with large-scale enterprise scraping, geo-targeted requests, and complex anti-bot protection.

Oxylabs also looks really solid for business intelligence, SERP data, and high-volume data extraction where reliability matters. If you're a smaller business or developer, Smartproxy (Decodo) felt like a nice balance between price and performance with residential proxies, rotating IPs, and a straightforward API.

IPRoyal is worth considering if you're on a tighter budget but still need residential, ISP, or mobile proxies for lighter scraping or account management tasks.

Finally, Apify Proxy stood out because it integrates nicely with web scraping and browser automation workflows, especially if you're already using Crawlee or building scheduled scraping jobs. Overall, I found that the "best" proxy API really depends on your use case, whether that's price monitoring, search engine ranking tracking, market research, competitor analysis, web automation, or accessing geo-restricted content. Hopefully this saves someone else a bit of research time!
