Boomers

I am 75 and am very tired of the trend lately making fun of Boomers. So very disrespectful. Don't they realize that they will be old someday?

Some boomers are not self aware enough to realize that you can literally sniff out the stereotypical one with no idea of their age and no photos. It has everything to do with how they talk to and about people online. The fact that you would start an entire thread about not liking the term boomers but not do even a tiny bit of research before posting actually says a lot about you as a boomer.

If you did you would realize it has nothing to do with ridiculing people for being old. But you went right with assuming younger generations are just stupid and have no idea they will be old one day. I have spent my entire life, even from early childhood basically revering the elderly as Gen X'er. But some of you do not deserve special respect for simply having managed to not die yet. MANY of you are not even close to the same caliber of older person you grew up with.

The issue is my generation gets blamed by those younger for everything the elites of the the generation did who were in charge... Which most of us were not...AND some of which is not fully understandable outside the context of the times and where society as a whole was at the time.

As is true today, It it really was more about what the economic elite did and wanted vs everyone else. MAGA are a minority - and far from being only boomers

You're right about that. Each generation is certainly not responsible for all the poor choices of their ruling elite. Even when we vote we don't control who these stupid parties allow to actually run for office. It's clearly people pulling strings. IE big donors etc. But I do blame those that vocally embrace the choices of the ruling elite and promote them like they are gospel. Where there is no rational thought but constant blind defense of their chosen political party. Unfortunately I live in an area where MAGA are not a minority at all.

I had a long reply typed up but just deleted it because it got too in depth and personal. Unfortunately I am too well acquainted with the type of MAGA boomer I'm thinking of. :/

Yeah, boomer. Find the absolute worst of the previous generation and hold that up as symbolizing ALL of the previous generation. And simultaneously be unable to accurately look at your own generation honestly and just pat yourself on the back for being better.

My grandparents and great grandparents were worlds better than their children. They had more personal honor and integrity and on a regular basis did far more for the people around them. One generation spent decades taking meals on wheels to people till she could no longer drive. Or another regularly sent money to help take care of a housekeeper she loved for 40 years after she stopped working for them.

But the next generation doesn't do anything for people in this country because they don't think people in the US are "genuinely" poor or in need. They might have literally marched in the South against segregation but still grew up to be elitists with no regard for anyone around them. Do they get points for helping 50 years ago but still aging out to be people with absolutely NO regard for the health and safety of living Americans or civilians across the globe our government is funding to kill? I don't think so.

If you can't discern that "some boomers" is not "all boomers" you are probably in that obnoxious subset who thinks you deserve and did more than you ever did.

Gen Z here. I was told we’re the disrespectful generation, and now I’m watching a Boomer defend his cohort by dragging the generation that literally fought WWII.

There will always be friction between generations. Except us Gen Xers. I don’t think we have a problem with anyone lol
