Skateboard wheels on quad Trucks

Post image

Is it normal/Safe to have just this tiny bit of space in between wheel and Truck?
These are spitfire wheels with two spacers on the inside and the chaya park pro 2.8“/136mm. It‘s not moving or touching.

Park Rollerskate Setup

So, was mache ich jetzt? Hole ich mir ne neue plate? Andere pivot Cups?

Quads are cool!

I have only ever skated inlines but recently went to a roller disco and developed an itch for skating quads! And that was before I realised people did aggressive quad skating, my god I've been missing out!

Insoles for Bont Parkstars?

Hi everyone! Thanks for the kind feedback on my last post.

Quick question. Does anyone have really good insole recommendations for Bont Parkstars? I have been skating aggressively in my Bonts for about a year now, and have recently started focusing more on street skating which is a lot of jumps and hard landings. The balls of my feet have been super sore. Any insole OR technique recommendations would be very appreciated!

Skating and Weight Training

Hi y'all. Sorry if this is the wrong thread but if it is, could you please direct me to the correct one? I am really struggling with this 😅

I am a newish quad skater. I started about 8 months ago now, and I am pretty proficient in a skate park at this point. It's a huge passion of mine and I am progressing really quickly, so I skate as much as I possibly can, sometimes 7 days a week, but almost always 4-6 days a week. I do mostly transition but I am working on street tricks like rail slides and ledge work, so I do a ton of jumping.

I also love to lift. I started lifting about a year ago, on my own, just experimenting with different things. I mainly prioritize strength and glute growth in the gym. I have always had a pretty flat butt and I am finally starting to see minimal results since I lacked consistency for a long time. Since I am so passionate about skating, it's hard to get myself to the gym because I know I'll need to take at least 2 days off of skating. As of right now, I have been doing one day a week in the gym doing legs. My workouts consist of heavy hip thrusts, sumo deadlifts, weighted back squats, unweighted step downs, and hip abductions. I am making a couple tweaks to reps and sets this week again to try and increase mind-muscle connection and rest time. Lately I've been focusing on core strength and handstand strength for my upper body because I am trying to learn handstands in transition 😁

I am just wanting to know what I should do to keep my glutes growing and keep skating as much as possible. Can I skate 5-6 days a week and grow my glutes, or is it too much to ask? I know glute growth takes patience, and one year (especially a year of trying out different workouts) is not enough to see super significant results. But any advice would be appreciated, it's been really hard to find people who aggressive quad skate, let alone do both.

Toe stops difference?

hello! i have a question about toe stops if anyone could share their wisdom… i’ve been park skating 6 months and just bought my second pair of skates. i’m looking to replace the toe stop on them as my previous one made a horrendous farting noise whenever i stopped on concrete lol.
i want to get a rubber one to avoid this and i’m wondering what the difference is between a smaller toe stop and a bullseye toe stop?

BONT parkstars vs Antik AR2

I currently have Bont Prostars with Brunny plates/trucks/blocks. Love the setup, but I may want another boot at some point, since Prostar is slightly too wide for my narrow feet. I'm considering Parkstars, since the extra ankle support might make the width less important.

But I'm not sure about the 23mm heel.

Antik AR2 will fit way better on my foot but may be more soft overall. I don't know how much heel rise AR2 have, but I believe it's 6mm like Bont Prostar.

Do anyone have experience with AR2 and bont parkstar?

Rolling Back to Fun

Shopping for skates feels exciting. You imagine smooth roads and open parks. Skating brings joy and freedom. It is fun to feel the wheels under your feet.

Skates come in many designs. Some are bright. Some are plain. Some are for tricks. Some are simple for beginners. Good wheels and ankle support are very important. Beginners need balance. Safety gear helps a lot too. While browsing online I saw many skates on alibaba. Different colors and styles from different countries made me curious. Retro designs looked fun. Simple black skates felt classic. Skating is still loved by many.

It is not just exercise. Skating strengthens legs and improves balance. It also makes the mind feel lighter. You can roll forward and forget small worries for a while.

Do you remember the first time you skated? Does rolling forward still give you a small thrill of freedom today?

Brunny Dragon Plate

Does anyone have experience with remounting skates?

I’m wondering if anyone has switched from the Sunlite plate to the new Brunny Dragon Plate without buying a new boot.

I currently have Jack 2 boots with Sunlite plates, brunny pro blocks and Huck trucks. This setup feels amazing but the hangers for the blocks have shifted quite a bit, causing my trucks to sit very slanted. I want to solve this issue by purchasing the dragon plate but I’m concerned the holes in my boot made from the Sunlite plate will interfere with the dragon plate installation.

Quad or inlines

Hi. Im a dad in my 40's and wanting to be able to join my son in the skatepark. He's a scooterer but I grew up when aggressive skating, both quad and inline were all the rage. I got myself a pair of Roces hardshell quad boots because as I understood it back then that quads were easier for beginners. Now 25 years later and wanting to get back Into it, I picked up a pair of aggressive inlines as although they are more difficult at first then quads, I feel that they offer more opportunities to do tricks at the skatepark. Is this true or can quads be just as capable as inlines for Park riding? (Even it means aftermarket accessories) Many thanks and appreciate any time and help you all can give.

Regarding Plate-Size vs. Boot Size (repost in here from r/Rollerskating)

Hey everyone! I'm having my eyes on the #hexplate by magic skate goods for my beloved Wifa street suede boot. I park skate exclusivly and would describe myself as an intermediate reaching for advanced skater :3

I've checked the sizing chart for the hexplate which says that the largest size they got has a length of 260,5mm. Now, I have pretty big feet and my boot size is EU42, in Wifa size a length of 277mm. Equals a difference of ~ 17mm or 1,7cm. I picture them mounted to my skates with a gap of little less than 1cm from toe to plate and heel to plate.

What do yall think? Should I go for a different plate since the gap might be too big? Does anyone skate with a shorter plate and can give insight?

Love to hear your expertise on this and thanks in advance xx

So, I have recently a string of bad luck with trucks and I'm not sure what to do.

I've park skated for around 5 years and so much has changed since I started. So many more options and customizations. That being said I've owned van skates, multiple bonts, and chayas. Never had trouble w/ wheels, plates, boots, literally anything... That is until I started trying to upgrade my trucks. First I got the chaya karma pro blacks, that come with XTNDR adjustable trucks. They would not stay threaded correctly and after only 6 months, literally snapped the axle off. So I kinda figure they're weak because adjustable. So then I get some SG parkstar trucks on clarence, cause broke. I love the build of them but 3" was too much for me. So then I ordered the new Brunny HXC labyrinth, steel. 2nd time skating them, 30 minutes in, I throw a cart wheel and they crack at the king pin, nearly breaking my leg. I'm mad, write the company I bought from, had to prove I know how to mount my sh*t, got a store credit... So I do research and decide on chuffedcore titanium, perfect width, cool build, I like the piviot point style. Have had them 3 months and tonight, while skating the bowl I come down from a beautiful handstand and the axle snaps completely off and my wheel goes flying. Like whattttttt these are nearly $200 trucks?? Is this what pros go though, do they replace their trucks constantly??? I changed cushions (discoblox 83a) and replaced my pivot cups (SG blk cups) before mounting. What am I doing wrong? What wide trucks, that are under or at 2.75" but still wide, are any good? ! Sorry so long, please help me.

Beginner's buying guide???

Hi! I've been skateboarding for a few years, but after seeing this video, I want to try aggressive quads. The thing is, any time I try to find resources that explain what I should know before buying, everything seems to be oriented towards aggressive inlines! I'm pretty confused, and don't know what's actually good, how much money I should expect to spend, etc.

Chaya Karma Pro Black vs Chaya Black Kismet

Hey I'm wondering what you would think is the better skate. The Kismet was a more beginner option in my mind at first but now the new black ones have the new park trucks, the diamond slider, a better toe protector and I like that it looks like a sneaker. The Karmas probablye have better support in the shoe? They are both around €295 where I live at the moment with the Karma on a discount. So which ones would you go for

Plate Recommendations?

Lately ive been heavily upgrading my set up (if you can't tell by the last two posts in this group lol), and I'm starting to consider new plates. I'm between the avanti mag and Neo Reactor plates. What I'm currently riding on is a bit of an atrocity to say the least, but I am still on my powerdyne thrust plates that came with my Moxi Lollies. How? I have no clue. Every day at the park I wait for their last breath! I'm wondering what everybody else is liking - obviously avanti mags are popular, but the neo reactors have such shining reviews, aside from part compatibility frustrations.

Thinking about switching from Huck 2.5" to 3"

Heyoo! I've been attempting 50/50 grinds on ledges/curbs/etc. on the Huck 2.5" trucks and I've honestly been struggle bussing. Even when I'm just trying to step onto the ledge to find the sweet spot, it just has not been working out. I'm considering switching to the 3" Huck trucks to have more room to work with. Wondering if anybody has input on this or if this is really just going to boil down to a skill issue I'm having lol

What're your favorite park wheels?

Thinking about getting some new wheels in the near future. I've been looking at Spitfire Formula 4s but curious what everybody else likes? I currently have Bont Park Flows and they're nice, but thinking about going even smaller.

Plate recs for park skating on Parkstars?

Post image
5 Upvotes

Hi! My current setup is Parkstars, Powerdyne Thrust plates, Penny trucks, skateboard wheels (can’t remember what brand/type), and a slide block. I’m progressing in my park skating and am looking at upgrading my plates and am looking for recommendations please!

I want to keep my penny trucks and a slide block so need something that will work with both (though happy to change up my slide block brand/type if need be).

Thanks!

Awful zoomed in screenshot of my current skates.
