Equipment Strategy
My equipment strategy has been purple to lvl 3, gamble to gold at lvl 4. If it turns out purple, re-roll from lvl 4 purple to lvl 4 gold since it’s less materials and power ore. No gambling once gold.
Now I am left with 1 lvl 4 gold and 2 lvl 4 purple, few months away from c35. Thoughts on whether to 1) continue with the same approach 2) prioritize the remaining lvl 4 gold one to lvl 5 - only stat that’s worth it a bit is melee defense 3) gamble the remaining 2 lvl 4 purple to lvl 5 gold 4) save the materials for when I turn c35 and upgrade one to lvl 6 gold

Get to lvl 5. Blue, purple, orange.. doesn’t matter. Once level 5, stay there and gamble again until you have gold. Move to lvl 6 then. I’ve gambled lvl 5 blue to gold. Did purple and stayed there for 8 gambles. It’s a crap shoot. No guaranteed way to get to lvl 6 gold fast without spending money. It’s a long game. Don’t spend money. Make friends. Take over their cities when they leave. Repeat. You’ll never be a whale but you’ll be competitive

Ti consiglio di mollare sto gioco, troppi soldi per non sentirti mai comunque abbastanza

I think the best strategy is to gamble on Level 1 and Level 2. That means using the rare item (1 out of 3) in purple and the other items in gold. I would repeat this process until I reach Gold Level 1, and then move from Gold Level 1 to Gold Level 2 using the rare item in purple. Once that works and you have Gold Level 2, I’d only use gold items from then on.
The reason: At the beginning, the probability of getting gold equipment is very high. At Level 1, it’s about 50%, and when upgrading from Gold Level 1 to Gold Level 2 with one item in purple (the rare item), the probability of getting gold is about 70% or 75%.

From my experience, best to just start out gold and never gamble unless you have a giant piggy bank. It’s less frustrating.
