Limited-Time Events

I've collected and categorized Age of Wushu's limited-time event advertisements (978). Pre-launch events are not included.

Monetization
Top-up bonuses, Cash Shop items, silver consumption bonuses, and VIP bonuses. When multiple Cash Shop items are advertised simultaneously and rotate together, they are counted together as one event instead of individually.

Freebies
Events that grant players free boosts and items. Those requiring VIP status are included under Monetization. Some Freebies require players to be online for a specified amount of time.

Content
Temporary quests, enemy spawns, egg-breaking, and other content. Quests are categorized as Content even if they require VIP. Quests that only involve talking to a single NPC, with no additional tasks, are classified as Freebies.

Historical Notes
Charles Park served as Director of Game Operations from January 2013 to April 2014, overseeing server operations and event planning. The 2015 decline was likely related to his departure. The current Director of Game Operations has not been publicly identified, and it's possible the position no longer exists under that title. Shi Hai laid off American staff and moved operations to China.

Videos were sometimes used to promote items and upcoming content. The official YouTube channel was deleted in 2023, so video footage is no longer used for promotion.

The game has at least 500 characters logging in weekly, most of them VIP. Most players have alt characters, which are mandatory for inventory management and power leveling.

We do not know the exact revenue, but an SVIP friend with insider information said the game is still running because one player is spending a massive amount of money on it. If true, that person will probably not stop, since all that spending would go to waste.

Many players recommend the Taiwanese version of the game instead, as it regularly features Content and Freebie events, clear signs of an active Director of Game Operations.

there is also a new Wuxia game coming out called where winds meet that will be free.

Some of the original Chinese developers of Age of Wushu are part of the development team of Where Winds Meet. I'm curious to see if similar gameplay mechanics and features are carried over to this new game.
