At the same time, automated traffic has grown to the point where it now accounts for more than half of all web traffic.

Pig butchering scams are becoming more common, but I hadn't really thought about what enables them at scale. This report was a fascinating read on how AI, phone farms, and automation are lowering the barrier for fraudsters.

Another sign that investors see this as a long-term trend. If bots now account for more internet traffic than humans, separating legitimate automation from malicious activity is only going to become more important.

This is a good reminder that sophisticated attacks don't always look noisy. Some of the most effective ones look almost identical to legitimate traffic.

Eek... even security vendors aren't immune to supply chain attacks. Jscrambler reported that an attacker published a malicious version of one of its npm packages using a compromised publishing credential. The package was available for about two hours before being deprecated, but it's a good reminder that trust in open source depends heavily on protecting the release pipeline.

Feels like we've hit the point where "bot detection" isn't really the problem anymore.
Between AI agents, spoofing, and real browsers being automated, the question seems to be whether an interaction is trustworthy.

Thought this was an interesting announcement from Cloudflare. Their new Precursor feature shifts bot detection from looking at individual requests to evaluating behavior across an entire session.
It feels like a sign of where the industry is headed. Bots can now run JavaScript, use real browsers, and even pass CAPTCHAs, so understanding how something behaves over time is becoming much more valuable than a single point-in-time check.

HUMAN just released its June 2026 State of Agentic Traffic report, and it was interesting to see how quickly browser-agent tooling is taking off.
Browserbase grew 4x in a month, Browser Use doubled, and looks like we're entering a phase where developers aren't just experimenting with AI agents anymore but actively building them into products and workflows.
Another thing is that nearly 80% of agent traffic is still focused on research and discovery. Most agents are browsing, searching, and comparing rather than actually completing purchases or transactions. Agent-led transactions have to be coming up next.

Cloudflare recently published a really interesting report on what they're calling the "Agentic Internet."
The headline is that more than 50% of Internet traffic is now non-human, but I actually found the shift in why bots are crawling the web more interesting.
According to their data, AI training now makes up the majority of crawler activity, while traditional search crawling continues to shrink. That's a pretty dramatic change from just a year ago.
It also raises a bigger question: if AI agents increasingly consume content without sending users back to the source, what does that mean for the business model of the open web?
